yeah, it sounds like your valves need to be adjusted. its probably going to cost $100+ to get a shop to do it for you...

Ahh don't be scared to do it yourself man! Like everyone here has said, get a good manual, and don't worry about it. Get a set of $5 feeler gauges, and have at it! If you do take it to a shop, make sure that they let the car cool down for a day, because even the SLIGHTEST bit of heat can throw the adjustment off!

what motor do you have? I have a B16a and mine was tickin since the swap. I thought it was the valves so i adjusted those. The ticking was still there, so I thought it was the injectors stickin, nope. Then I thought it might have been something in the distributor(wild guess), nope. So I am gonna see if its my lifters or my rockers, I just know alot of B16'ers have this common problem.

damn....i dont think you need to let the motor cool down for a day! hahaha...well he's right though...do the adjustments when the head is the coolest....like in the morning but when we did valve adjustments at the dealership we would stick a digimometer (i guess thas what it is fer short) and wait till the head temp was AT LEAST below 80 degrees F....the SOHC's are alot easier to adjust valves but the b-series motors arent bad either...When you get your feeler gauges...(since youre doing the B16) get some long ones ..like about 6in-12in feeler gauges...i have snap-on brand and they werk great to get down deep where the lobes and rockers are...also its really hard to get your wrench and flat head screw driver in the head fer the b-series motors when tightening the lock nuts...so you might wanna invest some money in a special tool or a custom deep well socket with a flat head down the middle...
and remember.....get a good manual(helm's)...try the DOHC delsol specs..should be good..werkd on mah bro's sir2 motor....GOOD LUCK!

ps....follow the manual!

Just look around on the internet. A lot of sites have the service specs for the JDM B16A's, and you shouldn't have too much trouble finding the valve clearances.

I have a b16a and I tried to do my valve adjustment the other day and couldn't do it. I think I need that special tool from snapon jam nut wrench. I used the integra GSR manual when I was going to do my adjustment. They have the b16a measurements in the book also. intake 0.006, exhaust 0.008.
