yes...higher displacement rocks...so does the torque produced by the b20 block.the set up you mentioned is a good place to start.

yeah, but it wouldnt give you a considerable amount of horsepower stock. youre better off using that money and gettin a turbo.

if you had a gsr block already ..like me...
wouldn't it be wise just to resleeve and bore out to 2.0?
any disadvantages?

$2k for a regular CRV motor? They can be had for less. The power curve is great and 200+WHP is possible with the right parts. It all depends on what you want...as a daily driven vehicle, CRVTEC would be an excellent choice.

Is it worth the money? Many would say no...but in my opinion, it's the ultimate when it comes to N/A. If you get it built right, it will be very reliable and easy to maintain (one of my main concerns).

Not really. It's just that CRV blocks can be had for real cheap if you look around...to the point where boring out and resleeving your GS-R block could cost more.

The c-speed integra just went 12.8 at the track with a similar setup. b20 block, itr head. check out c-speedracing.com there's probably a lot of info there about the b20/vtec setup.

if you have a gsr than use that tranny for the crv/vtec. that saves money right there. i have it on mine and it rocks! if you only have the gsr block than you would have to buy a tranny anyway , so its not really more money-its cheaper. plus you already have the gsr head. ***you can get b20b blocks for $800 . vtec conversion line to b20 block for $75. do you already have gsr ecu?
if you bored the gsr block than you would have to mess with custom/ modified head gasket. and after all that you would still have a smaller bore and still an 87.5
stroke instead of 89mm. -----get a crv/vtec all the way!
*********plus after completing this project you can sell your gsr shortblock for at
least $300.---people are in need of short blocks all the time.

98 b20b with machined pistons only has 15k miles on it. ls vtec fitting and oil line
B16a head. rebuilt with new valve seals, type
R valves, dual valve train and retainers.
caps and valve cover ,etc.
Type R intake Manifold with throttle body
and the wire harness
all that for 2k's??? you think it is worth it......

also to complete it.. i can just use my shiftlinkage my axles and my tranny..i got a gsr so is that right??? do i have everything i need??? but is it worth 2k and do i have basiclaly a complete swap...and also i can use integra mounts right???

Or you can do like me and go crvtech and then turbo im

anyways i say sell the gsr longblock keep ecu and tranny and use that $ toward the crvtech then go turbo. Gsr is great motor but it cant compare to the torque of the b20, just remember build it while its apart it will save you $$. As far as reliabilty mine has held up well its completly stock bottom end non vtec oil pump and has been on car since january. IT has went thru a s/c for about 6 weeks and now turbo for 3 weeks and no probs.

what exactly is included in the b20/vtec setup? does it include the lines for the b20/vtec setup? does it come with the ecu? stock pistons? etc. if u can give us exactly what's included then we can give u a more accurate answer.

also, 2000 for a "stock" b20/vtec is not that bad. i got my b20z longblock for 1100. 700 for the complete gsr head. 300 for the obd-1 gsr ecu. actually i just paid for the longblock coz i transferred everything from my previous ls/vtec setup. but u get the idea.

if u have some more money, try to swap out the stock pistons with higher compression ones, beefy rods, arp rod bolts, etc, etc. if u don't have the money now, u can always wait till u get more funds to make ur b20/vtec into a monster. u'll save more money waiting to put the stock b20 (or crv/vtec) in ur car and having to put all the goodies in the engine while it is out.

hth.

uhm. what do you mean? you can order a cometic .032" 85mm headgasket and you'd be fine.

and after all that you would still have a smaller bore and still an 87.5 stroke instead of 89mm. -----get a crv/vtec all the way!
how would you have a smaller bore? the B20 has a 84mm bore, stock. You can safely 0.5mm overbore it. possibly 1mm, im not sure. but what is the max you can get? 85mm. the b18c has a 81mm bore. you can resleeve it and bore the thing out to 86mm if you really wanted to be crazy and had cash. realistically you can bore it to 84.5-85mm. BIGGER than the crv bore.

If you keep the b18c you get the following:

better lubrication
better vtec crank
girdle
oil squirters

etc.

Right now I rev my b18c to 9k with a fully built valvetrain and stock bottom end. try that on a b20. with a fully built/blueprinted/sleeved/balanced b18c you can rev over 9k. I actually sold my b20z longblock in favor of resleeving my b18c.
