cusco ftw? maybe for looks not performance or safety. i'd go with an autopower rollbar.

cages arent good for a daily driver. wait till you get another daily before you put the cage in your car. unless of course you want to get your head banged on the steel and die

If it isn't safe to daily drive with a cage, why would you put one in for racing? Aren't cages for protection?

Because in a race car, you'd be wearing a helmet and harness.

Ask any guy in the road race forum. They have seen or know someone who was knocked unconsious with a helmet on and pads on the bars. Those pads don't do jack **** when your head is moving at 50+ mph.

Yes, you should always properly pad the bar. However, the "padding" isn't all that "soft" or inexpensive, and many people fail to pad it correctly. If there is a legitimate need for a cage (i.e., a track car), it can be made safe enough for street usage, but if it's just being used for "bling", it will be more trouble than it's worth.

I have one, but Im 5'6 so its pretty far behind me. I guess it depends how tall you are and how far you pull your seat back. But then again, people bend in weird ways during an accident, so it is better to be safe and just get some padding for the extra protection. I got an autopower 4pt roll bar at http://www.safedrives.com
Very friendly service, and this bar is a bolt on, just need to drill 12 holes. I like bolt on just because I have a choice in the future to take it off easily.

A roll bar is what would be ideal for street use. Like this:

Or this:

Anything the comes forward to the driver (i.e. halo, front supports etc) would be an added risk on the street. It has been covered why already in this thread.
As for bolt it or weld, either will work. Just use the provided hardware given.

daily driving with a cage can be very unsafe. you get in an accident and your head is going to hit one of the bars. even with some padding it is still dangerous. only way to keep it safe if to drive with your helmet.
i wouldnt do it....

cusco is for the bling. it's held together with bolts (at least the versions i've seen) and it's designed for a rhd car so the triangulations will be off for your lhd.

Cusco cages are bullshit. They dont even go through the dash. There made to win car shows, not for racing.
If your gonna be driving your car on the street, don't have any bars in front of your seat or beside it. It's that simple. Everything has to be behind your seat. A simple 4 or 6 point roll bar is plently safe for the street.

Kirk Racing > everything else
...use high density padding I think it's called, had a Kirk cage in my old EF, great deal, great people, SCCA/NASA legal, did I mention how great the people are?
