Default New use for a D-series block

I got bored today, had a d15b8 block sitting around and saw someone make a coffee table out of a v8. I decided to give it a try and this is what I came up with

Okay, bigger pictures

It has 2 extra pistons on it due to a v6 conversion we are working on with CP and eagle

you should've cleaned it. and put an oil filter on it, for giggles. looks good.

Actually, the block was REALLY dirty. It sat in the solvent tank for about an hour, sat in engine degreaser, and had the brush go at it for a bit, and that was as clean as we wanted to get it. I think i'll throw an oil filter on it. Maybe put the "Black box" on the back also, but I think it looks decent the way it is. Could be cleaner, but MEH.

John had a couple engines to build, he got down to just torqueing the heads on and misc accessories, so I went and did my thing. Also waiting for parts from the machine shop.

Not to be picky, but you should have just used 4 pistons for the 4 banger effect. Still cool, nonetheless.

Actually, it's pretty sturdy, it got moved around a lot today and everyone liked it, but it was a wee bit dirty, so we'll get a wire wheel attachment for the die grinder, clean her down and probably paint her black when we have time.

I thought about welding flat metal pieces to the bottom headstuds/legs to make it sturdy, but it's really pretty stable as is.

As far as the 4 cylinder thing, due to the crankshaft and how the pistons would sit.
1 and 4 would sit together and 2-3 would sit together, if you eliminate ithe extra pistons... the top actually is pretty UNstable at the bottom right and top left corner.

I'd use the clear circular rubber dome feet to prop that thing up.

It's not glass, it's plexi "unbreakable" glass.

I got this idea a few years ago as well. I started with an H series block but I ended up forgetting about it because I was so busy. I think that you just inspired me to finish it up though, lol.

I like how the v8's one look.

Yes, that's how I saw the v8 block done, but I didn't have one so I couldn't make one like that. Looks sweet. Maybe we'll do a v8 block, but we a honda/acura shop so that wouldn't look right.

That is a great idea. I was just contemplating what to do with all my old D series blocks. Now to get the wife to approve putting an old engine block in our family room. HAHAHAHA...! I'll let you know how that goes.
