Default VAFC Installs

Show me what ya got. I just picked one up and I am wondering how difficult it is to put it in an unconventional place.

Anyone put them in gloveboxes (or sunglass holders)?

Not wasting any time are you

I've seen a few threads in the Integra forum where people have put them in the glovebox, under the radion or in place of the ashtray. Ill see if I can find some threads.

Edit - Here are some links

I used to dither around when modding my car. No more...being indecisive costs money and time.

I bought the roof console and the VAFC-Deuce within 24 hrs of each other, thanks to Jared. I did the V1 thing really quickly too. I just don't feel like sitting around with the stuff in pieces because then I'll start regretting it. Thanks for anything you can dig up

The trick is finding someone who can install and tune it...

I really liked my old set-up. Just buy an extra visor and you can pull it out anytime.

Now you see it

Now you don't

Wow Chris, that is sneaky.

I bought a JDM roof console/sunglass holder for this purpose, and I hope it's all going to fit. We shall see when the console arrives next week

I can't remember if anyone ever did that specific install or not. If it doesn't work, your method will be my backup plan. Thanks for posting that.

Haha. Well, 225whp isn't exactly on my "to-do" list.

My car made 172/125 in stock form on a Dynojet. I'd really like to just squeeze another 5-10hp and few lb-ft. out of it, and be able to adjust it meself.

I hear you. It did help me before when I had just I/H/E and cam gears.
Mount it on your steering column cover.

Very easy to install, as long as u identify the wires correctly. I had mine mounted on top of my steering column.

Don't forget that it has to stay put in high G manoeuvres and it has to pass NASA trackside tech.

I was wondering about that, actually. Do you see a problem off the top of your head, provided the compartment can stay closed?

that's where I had mine also. It's an easy cable run from there, you'll have excess cable to pull it on on the very few times you actually need to look at/touch the VAFC and it's normally hidden, which is what I prefer. I don't like seeing a chunk of silver plastic every time I drive my car.

I've had the JDM console on track and it stays put. Even forgot I had a garage remote in there (big ole 9v model) and it was fine. As long as you don't put too much weight into the compartments, I doubt it's going to be an issue.

yeah...I know that! I mean if he uses the sunglass box then he is going to have to figure a way to run the wiring from the box halfway across the liner to the pillar.

I'm a stickler for being able to remove stuff easily, so I'd never cut a hole in the liner to run the wires sight unseen. That was another reason why I used the visor. If you look at my pics, the wiring harness only had about 2" exposed before tucking behind the pillar cover.
