Default i just got a 1990 crx si..

i just got a 1990 crx si. with 203,xxx miles..needs a new cv axle..i was able to drive it home about 50 miles from my house. then the day after i just changed the spark plugs, wires, cap & rotor,

but soon after the tune-up, i drove it for about 5 minutes, i seen smoke coming out the hood and i quickly opened it and seen a glowing orange light under the engine, i look under and i think it was the catalytic converter and it was glowing and burning from the inside? can somebody tell me what happened? what should i do? and also i noticed loss of power after i change the spark plugs, wires, cap & rotor..i still need to replace the fuel filter..i plan to use the CRX as my daily driver and go 200 miles a day...can anybody help me out, please?

The glowing light sounds like your cat was overheating. take it off and bash out all the material inside to make it a hollow pipe. It won't be legal, but it will tell you if it was an obstruction in the cat.

Then go get a new one, lol.

Sound like your CAT got clogged up burned. Take it out and put it up to a bright light, you should see a liitle bit of light on the other end. if not, replace it.

the cat is made up of a honey comb ceramic material. and it does get clogged, and some times even smell like rotten eggs. best bet is to get it replaced, you car will run a whole lot better. or like said above, take it off and smash out the inside. i live in a town with no emisions, so i have gotten away with that before
