Default Avid Racing traction bars?

i'm looking at buying one cuz i'm sick of looking at my nasty hacked up cross-member to allow for header clearance.

i'm wondering if anyone here has one, and either has a 4-2-1 tri-y style header (rage, whitfield, hytech) and what the header clearance is.

even if you dont have one of those headers but do have the crossmember, would it be possible to post a picture of it, both from the bottom and looking down through the engine bay so i can get an idea of where it sits.

i already bought and sold a jim-fab traction bar cuz it didnt clear my header, i dont want to do that again

I have Avid Racing linkaged for my B series swap...I had to dremel out the shift linkage (the one that actually changes the gears) to fit onto the tranny...pretty unimpressed by it (it was brand new and I had to modify it to work?? We couldn't even tap it on!).

I wouldn't really get alot much else from them. I think my mounts are by them too, they aren't that nice either.

i sold the jim-fab to a friend and it clears his AN-R.

i know the jimfab i had was supposed to be for a D series but i was told it would work just fine with a B series (with the front mount shaved off)

I had an Avid traction bar. It fit fine w/ a stock radiator and a DC sports 4-1 header and an RMF header. It broke in 3 places on a hard shift to 2nd. I replaced it w/ a Full Race. I like the build quality and the performance of the Full Race MUCH better. The only issue w/ the Full Race is I had to make radiator brackets to lean my radiator back so I could close my hood. Also the Full Race has some massive front tow hooks. They are great for a lowered car cuz the front will bottom out on the sturdy tow hooks and NOT my Xmission, header, or oil pan. Here's the Full Race and RMF header FWIW;

EDIT: I also had to remove the stock fan and put an aftermarket one in the front of the radiator to fit the RMF header (nothing to do w/ the traction bar).

compared to the full race bar, was there a difference in where the cross-member bar sat?

This is all very interesting, especially since an Avid rep contacted me last week about using their product.

I was told they redesigned the new bar to be "identical" in mounting to the Full Race bar.

I also used to own an Avid bar, didn't care for the helm joints used to much (along with a few other reasons) so it was sold before I ever installed it.

Any pics of this AVID crossmember?

I have also be extreemly unimpressed with their products. Their B series shift linkage was the worst peice of crap I've ever seen.

I got a bar going to neofreak today and hope to have pics soon. The old style Avid bar is no longer in production as I'm told.
