Default pro built chassis

How many of you guys built your own chassis at home, i mean a pro hot rod, semi pro hot rod, or even a real pro street car. I want to know what some of you home Mechanic that have the knowledge but not the shop resources able to produce and be a good competitor out the against pro's with sponsors. The reason that i ask is because i want to get more indept with my car and building the chassy, but i don't have a lift or some of the perks that comes with a shop. If you guy have pics of some of the car's you built in you home garage please post, so i can have an idea of the limitation of a home mechanic

you wont be able to do everything in house. tools/equipement was a limiting factor for us.

__________________________________________________ _______________
my hatch chassis was built at a shop, i did some stuff in my garage. (it was at the chassis shop for over a year..........)

the coupe chassis was damn near 90% done all in my garage(in damn near 6 months. with a few things being sent out to get done(funny car cage/rear wing)

some of the cage was done in this small 1 bay garage(there is another small work are that you cant see in this pic. the car was brought back to this garage for final assembly.

here is the car in steve's garage.

my garage

@ the chassis shop (www.vpracecars.com)

they installed the funny cage(goes around the driver) and also redid the d bars, "4 link hookup"

back @ my place after it left the chassis shop.

this is a pic taken during final assembly in the 1st small garage.

there are also a bunch of things that were fabricated back in the small garage from the time it left my place until the final assm pic....

the car was brought up to my place this year, when we built our engine plate for it

the car now resides in a very clean/ organized garage/work area... basicly a mini taj mahal

thanks alot man that's the kind of pic's i was talking about. I don't want people that run shops to get the wrong idea about this post, i don't want them to think here's another person trying to promote doing your own work ,thus taking money away from shops. Im just saying that there are people out there who has the knowledge and or skills to do there own work that don't need a shop to build the car for them, and there are people who has the knowledge but don't want to bother with all that work, and bring there cars to the shops. I believe that a person cannot build a car from scratch with out using some sort of shop , wither it be a machine shop or welding shop, paint etc.. I am a supporter of this industry and i don't hesitate to bring my car to shops if/when needed

any way just thought I'd put that out there, back to topic

besides a few snaps here and there i cant believe mike hasnt been posting this car all over. there is no way i could not post up pics of the car through its stages. good job for being patient mike. you should quit being so selfish and share the car with the rest of us that are anticipating its "coming out of the closet" day.
