Default Parents looking for a new vehicle... help

Alright, my parents are tired of their $50+ a week gas bill with the truck. So I have been suggesting cars. I started with the Civic Si Sedan, dad liked the idea but the step mom doesn't want a manual, she sits through a LOT of traffic every week so it is understandable. I think dad likes honda more than she does. BUT I suggested Acura and she liked the idea. I think the best choices for them would be a TL or a TSX. However I have no experience with either of these cars. The only thing I know about either is that a TSX has K24... literally thats about the extent of my knowledge. I am going to check it out online, and go test drive (with dad) tomorrow. I told them if they get a TSX I will take it from them in a few years when they are ready for another car. Win Win right? anyways. Feedback from anyone who has had either of these would be good. What would be better is if anyone has had a TSX AND a loaded EX sedan. Compare?

Begin.

I had an 05 TSX w/ Navi

Loved the car, vastly underpowered.. I bought an auto one so my fiance could drive it
sportronic was fun.... navi = awesome.. just as the honda one.

THey are better off getting a certified preowned one
the ONLY downfall to the tsx is the SUPER only gas.

If they want "cheaper" get the EX sedan with navi but the tsx is a great car

I paid 27900 for it with navi brand new 3 miles black on black.

Why not an Accord? You can use 87 octane, the EX has all the features you'd get in a TSX for a lot less, and you can get 4 or 6 cylinders. Plus the LED tails are hot.

since your first concern was gas, id have to say to the new civc ex sedan for you.

if your willing to throw in a bit more money for power and style and what not, theres always the accord . 27/37 mpg i think. both cars will work with 87 octane

if the car was for you, i'd say a tsx 6spd . i always wanted one.

for reading.

1) Gas is a concern. The TL-S takes premium.

2) Traffic is also of concern. The TL-S only comes in manual transmission.

My vote for the EX sedan or the Accord 4-cyl.

Almost, the Accord 4 cyl gets 24/34, and the Hybrid V6 gets 28/35.

If they want extra power and better fuel economy, the Hybrid is great, but it's got a premium price...

And honestly who gives a fukc about having to run premium... if youre that broke stick with a Hyundai/KIA/Suzuki/etc/. In the end spending the extra change on 91 octane is not going to make or break anyone financially

Worse fuel economy than an Accord plus 20 cents per gallon for someone that just wants to drive a normal car and doesnt need the TSX is a good reason, some people just don't need that extra horsepower. They aren't broke, they just don't see the point in spending that much extra for something they don't find appealing. My parents don't give a rats *** about 100hp/liter 2.4 DOHC i-VTEC hoobidyjoobidy.

man, your guys suggestion for gas savy cars is suck

Fit FTW!!!11111!!!!1!11!!11!!!!!!

but yeah, definately need a car thats auto... so if i were you (to the OP) i wouldn't even consider "trying to take the car over when they're ready for a new one" just a waste, what are you giong to do with an automatic? unless your ready to just leave the "import scene" or your tired of manual by then...

with that said, i dont know why you have to stick to "hyundai/kia/suzuki/etc.." cuz your "broke" - a honda will suffice just fine..

like i said, Fit FTW!

and btw, that new TL looks pretty much like the previous year except they added a few bits and pieces.. (i'm talkin looks and not type s)

Sure, you dont have to be broke when youre trying to justify not wanting to run expensive fuel, but if your desicion in buying a car comes down to just what kind of gas it takes you may wanna consider some different options.

The Accord is a GREAT car, but personally I'd MUCH rather have the TL Type-S or even just the plain 'ol TL. The Acuras are MUCH more refined. For example they use higher quality motor mounts in order to provide a more seamless accel/decel tranistion, more giving dampers, etc, etc. The fit and finish is noticeably better in every aspect of the Acura compared to the Honda but in the end they're but awesome cars and either one would be a great desicion.

Hell I dont even want an accord, if I had to get a Honda i'd love to have a new TL-S, but I'm not a mom that gets stuck in traffic all day

In the words of my new fav. comedian Kat Williams... "Women need to understand that so long as they have a Vagina they rule the f*cking galaxy". Dad will never go against Step Mom or even Mom for that matter. There is nothing cool about getting "cut off" and sleeping on the couch. Women always win. The sooner we realize this the less complicated our lives will be

let me clarify some things... my dad is a 280+lb fella who feels tight in my SI. We are a family of 4, so a fit is not an option regardless... 4 people (including large father) plus a bunch of junk that always rides around with her and her daughter... no fit is too small... Needs to be a decent sized four door.

I had a 4cyl accord for a day when my Si had to be worked on a while back, didnt really like the EXTREME lack of power. It just felt helpless all together. However, the accords ARE nice.

As for the TSX if they get one, it would become my daily driver and my Si would become my toy, later down the road. Who cares if you have to drive an auto with 100k miles on it when you have a 6sp K20 builder in the garage screaming for weekend romps?
