Default h22 swap...intake manifold/chipping the p28

i bought a h22a vtec and swaped it into my 95 civic ex... someone was saying that i need to wire in the know sensor...then he told me that i could go around it by buying an intake manifold...and c hipping the p28...fist...

what is chipping the p28

second...

i would like to buy a skunk 2 manifold but then someone was saying that it doesnt fit cuz its to close to the firewall.

if that one doesnt fit what do u guys think of this one...

He's talking about the Knock sensor, and the IAB (intake air bypass) solenoid. Both of those come standard on the H22 and are not supported by a P28. If you bought a P72 you could retain functionality of them, although from what I've seen the H22 knock sensor doesn't work so well with the P72.

You should get your P28 chipped for your motor. You send it out, and they modify it so that it can read fuel/timing maps from an aftermarket chip instead of the factory maps, that way it can actually run the H22 correctly. The problem is since the IAB isn't supported by the P28, you either have to tied them open all the time (causing some loss on the low end) or replace the stock intake manifold with one that doesn't have secondary runners. The Skunk2 would work, although it's a tight fit. Stay the hell away from OBX if you can help it. Another option is the Euro-R manifold, which is pretty nice and a factory peice of that means anything to you.

Another option is to put all the necessary sensors on your car and run the stock P13 ECU. Everything will work like it did in the prelude, but you'll have to make sure you have all the EGR stuff there unless you wait a CEL all the time.

Chem geek is correct on almost every suggeestion he made, however you dont need to tie the IAB open because its default position is OPEN. You will lose low end torque but its nothing significant. I ran a p28 on my h22 with a custom map and it ran great. I didnt use the knock or IAB. Too bad P13 cant be tunable.

Yea, I meant if he left it all connected you'd have to tie it open. If you just unplug the control pot it'll stay open.

It is. You have to do a harware mod to teh ECU and it will work like a p72/p13

i have two questions:

so u just leave the IABs unplugged if you use a P28 and u will only suffer from a slight loss of low end torque? and everything else will work fine?

does anybody know what other intake manifolds will fit on this motor in a 93 Si civic?
