89 civic hatch b20 or b18a/b
i jus purchased my winter beater car for 900 bucks. this hatch been sitting for 3 years in their backyard and we jus put a new battery in it and it drove home like it was nothing. its got no dents on the roof and prob like 5 total door dings all around, the only bad thing is there is a rust spot above the rear right wheel bout a quarter size big, faded paint, ya know the usual for a 17 year old car, its got 180k miles and my whole reason for buyin a hatch was to swap it and drive it in the snow and rain, i used to have a eg civic with gsr before my s2k and it was decent but led me to getting the s2k cause it wasnt enough, im really interested in the b20 swap but i wanna hear some opinions on it and is it worth it or should i jus find a used LS engine, does b20 use same mounts as other b series engines? either way i wanna go forced induction in the future, b20 with supercharger is what i would like to try, any feedback appreciated
You use the same mounts for all B series engines. The only difference is that you use different ones for cable or hydraulic transmissions..(can use either one with the corresponding axles) Newer engines came with hydraulic. As for ls vs. B20, personal preference, although the B20 has a reputation of weak cylinder walls if you work them hard with turbo. Still a good engine, otherwise. LS engines are more widely available, probably a little cheaper too, since fewer early model CRV's were sold than Integras. I got an ls, and it is enough for me...
