my car is making a noise as if it is scraping or dragging metal, the noise gets worse when i shift between gears. however on the highway my car was shifting and performing fine. when i rolled up my power windows the noise got worse while i was rolling them up. its definately coming from under the car. right before thsi happened when i started my car immediately after starting it there was a "thunk" noise underneath. after i turned the car off it wouldnt restart right away, i had to wait about 10 min. any ideas?

It sounds like it might be a flywheel bolt has come loose.

 

it seems like it gets worse the longer my car is on.
