My Dad just purchased an 86 CRX DX with 28k original miles...
pics should be up in a week or two...but i couldn't resist posting.
he found the car 8 years ago...and kept in touch with the owner calling him 1-2 times/year. the previous owner happened to be 85 or so at the time (in 98) and was reluctant to sell the car even though his wife had just died and nobody was driving it. since then, he only put about 4k miles on it...mostly in the summer to keep the car in working/driving condition. according to my dad (i've only heard about the car) its in great shape with some slight fading of the paint on the roof and hood...which seems odd...but is somewhat normal for honda silver in that year. its also an automatic, although my plans are to put a b-series motor in it...in about a year and make it a clean, fast, weekend car.

Buy a different car and do that. Why tear up a low mile, original car? Especially when you can buy another one for less than a grand.

Come on its a DX its not like its even an Si, why not USE a rare clean 1g CRX??
Would it be better to just toss it in a barn and never use it so it can stay stock?
Now I'm all for keeping a clean stock car clean. I would say he should keep the interior and exterior as stock as possible however, I don't know about you guys but I personally don't think a stock 1g CRX DX ATX would be a whole lot of fun.

my goal is to keep the interior and exterior as STOCK as possible. i know a clean swap with a wire tuck and 190whp would make the car absolutely perfect...in my opinion.
the best part about this car...is that the bushings, steering rack and every other part of the car are like new...which makes it a pleasure to drive. combine those features with some power and nice suspension and the car would be just how i want it.
in any case, pictures will follow and my dad will then tuck it away in his garage until he can drive it to florida...where i'll do the swap. he's done several swaps...but he's a little cheaper than me and i'm afraid he won't spend the money to make the power i'd like to make. in either case, we'll do our best to keep the car as nice as possible.
i think we owe it to the crx and honda community to do so.
