first try at painting the wheels
I had wanted to paint these pieces of garbage for a while, and as you can see they aren't on a honda, but they are painted in rather "honda" style. Figured I'd put these on here before the dsm boards since flat black is the only way to go on your wheels according to them. Anyway, here they are, and can't wait to get a set like them for my integra
Here's the stock in the back with the new paint upfront, ignore the 80,000 pounds of crap on the roof, these cars are just ******* paper weights.

and a closer pic

You did a real good job from looking at the pics.....
The stock color looks better tho, and arent those the wheels on the newer eclipses????
Make sure you get those center caps painted too!

thanks alot, i love the way it looks in the light. The wheels from the factory WERE nice looking but these things looked like some one vomited corossion all over them. Those wheels were on the 97-99 GSXs and on the special edition GS. They are also on the newer version. All the center caps cracked a while back because they are garbage, so I'm going to have to cook some up. I was thinking of using the original 92 Talon center caps...

yeah what you are talking about took me a while to figure out how to paint the wheel. I ended up using a silver base coat on the intire wheel, the painting the whole wheel the gloss blue for the most part. After waiting for it to dry (which I apparently didn't since it kinda ripped it up a bit) I masked the outer lip area. These wheels are nice since the are a mutliple piece wheel so I was able to slide some masking tape inbetween the two sections. Then painted it all black, then removed the tape and voila Honda-looking-mitubishi-wheels on a mitsubishi-looking-eagle car.
oh another interesting fact, I painted these in about 20 degree weather, but by using a heat gun constantly as I painted it and heating the wheel, the paint was drying in about 5 minutes and looked amazing. Also the paint base is a dupont multi stage system for metal paints. The blue is a dupont metal transparent color, and the black is a high temp enamel. Ironically enough, the black is also mildly transparent as some metal flake is visible in the paint itself.
don't do it. DOONN'T. I bought mine when I got rid of my EK, everyday since I think "man my EK didn't sound like this, man my EK didn't handle like this, man my EK wouldn't have just exploded oil all over the place because I looked at it wrong." Which is why I'm going to sell this and dump more money into the DC.

yeah, its the base coat anodized coat paint, it came out really really good looking in naturaly light. I just finished the other four and got my ricer blue lug nuts
so I should have some pics of the car on the ground soon, just relocating the battery and redoing some front end wiring has taken a bit longer than planned.
