well some of use have better things to do with our money than drop 6 g's on a mAAd Tyte JdM paint job yo. but still want their car to look decent. and arent rotas a cheep knock off of better quality wheels? don't get me wrong i love my ef, but when it comes down to it, a car is a VERY bad investment. if you have lots of money then by all means drop it into your car, but don't talk **** on people that are trying to make there car look good that are as fortunate as others.
i for one will be trying this when i move into my new house in the end of december. i figure if i spend $80 on paint job that i can do myself in 2 weeks and it doesn't look that good, then o-well im out $80, and i can get a pro to paint over it, but imho its worth a shot. besides my car is FAR from a show car. all i really car about is going fast. but i would like my car to be one color. you gotta do what you gotta do

I dont see why people want to use rollers. I mean come on guys you would get a much better finish if you just went and bought a cheap spray gun from lowes and used it. Or hell just stick with spray paint. I dont care what anyone says you CAN NOT get a perfect finish using rollers!!!!
i dont see why this will get locked unless people keep turning down those dark nasty roads, if a guy wants to spend 50 bux to freshen up the look of his car, so be it, he isnt painting YOUR car with rollers is he?
the 2-3 thousand i'll save by painiting my car this way will be money re-invested in the engine, and that all i care about anyway.
Good thread

lol, dude, first off, the paint will never last. You can get Enamel paint off ebay for 60$ and it's a stage 1 paint. So don't give me that ball-er ****.
And if you think you can get a pro to just go over what you did with some roller then think again. First he will have to remove everything you did. Then do the body work, primer, then B/C. This is now going to cost you that $6 g's you were talking about. Paint is not that much, and if you do your research just about anyone can do it. A single stage urethane paint will run you about 50$ then the reducer and hardener maybe another $30.00. I paint cars for my friends and I do it on the side. I maybe charge them $150.00 if that.
I just can't for the life of me see how this is a good idea. It's just my opinion and I have the right to speak it.
And this is what $80.00 single stage looks like. and It's real car paint.

exctally. if you buy a gun and a compressor your talking about $300 at best for the bottom of the line stuff. plus when i comes to spraying cars i don't know my *** from a hole in the ground. and lastly is space/over spray. ill be working in a single garage and don't have the required space for spraying a car. i dunno i just think that rolling it on would be better FOR ME that spraying. thats MY opinion and i am entitled to it
if you read thought the first 4 pages of the link i posted, the guy who painted that orange charger did a couple of bugs to. the dark blue/purple one is a couple years old

yea, well to each his own. im sure if i had the money i would have takin a better route, but for 80 bucks i gave it a shot. i wont be too mad if someone was to key my car up, cause all il be out would be 80 bucks compared to paying 4gs, and il be able to redo it myself.
heres some pics i took. car is still not finished, sure its not gonna shine like 4g paint job, but it looks a million times better than the nasty flat-black primer it had. i have 6 coats for the white parts, they still need to be wetsanded and touched up on some low spots, and only 2 coats on the black parts that havent been sanded yet(hood, roof).
at first i was pretty sceptical, but read threw the original thread and had alot of things cleared up.
why roller?
simply cause you can control were you want the paint, spraying i would need to buy compressor, gun, all the other accessories, then tape up every single thing on the car to protect from over spray, also have to tarp up the whole garage so that paint doesnt go all over my landlords stuff on the next side.(he rents me half the garage, and uses the other half for his storage). using the roller method, i didnt have to tape over too many areas, deal with filling up the garage with all that spray dust.
well thats about it, not trying to say the roller paint job is the best method for everyone, but in my situation and my budget, it worked great for me.

I am definately going to try this when I get home, looks like it couldn't hurt much but who knows I would rather drop 4 grand into the engine instead of in the paintjob, oh well we'll see..
I paint for a living, houses that is.. we use oil based rustoleum on metal doors, counter tops and etc because of the smooth finish it leaves.... If you know how to use a roller you could probably get a cleaner paint job from a roller then from a spray gun... REMEMBER a spray gun is alot harder to use then people think.. thats like taking a kids crayons (rollers) and giving him a air brush and 2 years old
