Y80 Transmission in JDM ITR
Hi all,
I've just recently bought a 96 JDM ITR. I previously had a 97 JDM ITR for 2 years. Only noticed today that its got a Y80 transmission. The reason I went looking was because I noticed between 1st and 2nd gear, the car drops out of vtec. My old car had an S80, and a few of my mates 96 JDM ITRs also have the S80.
From what I gather, the Y80 came in the 1993 JDM Si Vtec Integra, and obviously my car got this transmission at some stage in its life.
Any pros or cons to this, and most importantly, has it got an LSD? Im pretty sure it hasnt. If not, can one be got for the Y80?
Thanks for any help

The Y80 transmission also came in the USDM GS-R and the JDM equivalent Si-VTEC. Here are the gear ratios:
1st: 3.230
2nd: 1.900
3rd: 1.360
4th: 1.034
5th: 0.787
Reverse: 3.000
Final Drive: 4.400
versus the S80 in the JDM ITR:
1st: 3.230
2nd: 2.105
3rd: 1.458
4th: 1.034
5th: 0.787
Reverse: 3.000
Final Drive: 4.785
Besides the ITR, some JDM S80/Y80s came with LSD, and would have an "LSD" stamp on the case.
If yours does not have an LSD, then the OEM unit can be installed, but I believe a couple of parts have to be changed out.
A word of caution - the Integras with the B18B1 engine also had a S80/Y80-marked transmission with of course taller gears.
1st: 3.230
2nd: 1.90
3rd: 1.269
4th: 0.966
5th: 0.714
Reverse: 3.000
Final Drive: 4.266:1
I found this info here because I'm hopelessly rusty.

Thanks for that. I can see why its drops out of vtec between first and second now. Although if Im really quick on the change it doesnt. I've located an S80 trasmission from a crashed JDM ITR, but the housing is cracked. Theoreticly speaking - Im just thinking out loud really, could the gears, lsd and final drive be transfered over to my transmission? And if so, how difficult of a job would it be?
Thanks
Thanks
