Default Machining OEM Type R flywheel to 11lb?

Has anyone here machined their OEM flywheels, and have had no problems? I'm thinking of machining my Type R fly down to 11lb instead of buying a lightend one for mega bucks! Any suggestions? Thnx!

im sure it would cost you just as much to get a new flywheel than to do that

my friend is a machinist and has done my D series flywheels down to 10.2lbs or so. A couple of them. They have been great.
He did a couple B series, and got them down to about 12lbs. Go below 12 and it will be really hard to balance. He couldn't get one right at about 10.3lbs and it ended up being a shop hammer. One smack on the pickle fork with that thing, and your ball joint is loose!

but the fact that machining it would probably be as much if not more than a aftermarket flywheel, why not just get one already light?
