Default My next bike

I've been thinking of getting a new commuter to replace the old YZF600 and I've got my heart set on a VFR. I really wanted a 1998-2001 VFR800FI since it's the last of the gear driven V4's and lighter than the current model until I saw pics of the new 07. I love this color scheme!

Maybe an older bike painted like this will work

I'm on the fence about the color but me likes the single sided swing arm.

The paint scheme is sweet, for sure, but I'd stick with the 98-01 VFR800.

Some love the new "retro" paint scheme and others hate it. Personally, I think they just need to add white or chrome wheels to make the RW&B really "pop".

As far as the bike goes, its generally considered a little underpowered by today's standards and a little overweight as well. That being said, the people that own them ABSOLUTELY love them. The VFR does nothing the best, but it does everything really well. It's comfortable for those long rides, yet can keep up with most other sportbikes on all but the twistiest of twisties. The V4 motor has a very cool and unique sound and produces a lovely smooth torque band. It also has a good amount of punch up high too.
There is a good reason the VFR has won many MC of the year awards in its time.
As far as the 98-01 vs. the 02-07....aside from cosmetics, and loosing a little weight, the main diff is that the 02-07 does not have gear driven cams and has VTEC, which has been far from perfect in the motorcycle. Apparently, the early VTEC models had such a hard jump in power when the VTEC kicks in that it can almost be suprising and unsettling......i've heard they have re-mapped things and the latest versions are working much better.

Anyway, good luck on your buying decision... check out some of the VFR forums for advice and info..... http://vfrworld.com/ and http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/index.php?

Vrf has always been at the top of my "to get" list. Not really feeling the retro style paint. Imo the 98-01 look the best

After seeing that, I need to paint the wheels on my VFR.. I was thinking Gold... with the red?
I also need a high mount can to show off my soon to be painted wheels.

I love my VFR.

I saw an original VF1000 in that color scheme when I lived in Maine back in '96.

I don't know about the other people, but for me it's akin to the previous generation 3-series (e46). The best-looking 3 ever.

The newer (and newest) 3 looks ugly.

I am not too familiar with these bikes. Can someone please give me a comparison to the likes of an f4i or such? (specs, price, advantages, etc.) I like the body style of those 98-01 v4s

Heavier, a touch slower, far more comfortable, better gas mileage, sounds 100x better (mine sounds like this and shoots fire: http://www.twobros.com/Cust_Se...R.wav).
