Default HFP Sport Axle-Back Muffler :: Thoughts...

Well I installed an HFP muffler last week and decided I'd make a thread with my thoughts on it just incase anyone was considering this "upgrade".

First impressions: It LOOKS great! Great build quality, awesome fitment, bling-bling finish and a nice design. Installation, obivously, took a matter of minutes and the new muffler comes with 2 new bolts and a new gasket.

Initial start-up: listening from outside the car its a bit deeper than stock, on the inside of the car, with windows up, its hard to notice much of a difference.
Driving: If youre driving civilized(shifting before 4k), and have your windows up while listening to music you will not notice a difference. If you've got the windows down you can tell the exhaust tone is a little louder than before. Once you start putting your foot into it a little more its more noticeable but definantly not annoyingly loud.
Cruising on the highway: no droning or annoying exhaust noise... sounds "stock"! Which, IMO is a good thing

I havent heard it driving except for when I'm in it , but according to my brother its quite a bit louder when pulling up to his house/driving by.

Honestly, if youre serious about getting a little HP and a loud exhaust, this muffler is NOT for you. It looks nice, sounds really clean and doesnt effect any aspect of your warranty but considering the price and lack of any sort of gains, I'd say spend your money on a progress sway, or something of the like that'll make driving more enjoyable.

I'll post pics and possibly a sound clip later.

Good to hear. I am currently in the market for a 07 and was weighing out my options as far as mods go. Really don't feel like voiding the warranty too soon once i purchase the car. IMO the car is nice as hell bone stock. Would definitely like to add a Progress Sway and Comptech SS once i get it. And some factory fogs would be nice too. Maybe even some springs... still trying to find out which brand has the best reviews.

Thanks for the review, you should go Evo2... i love this exhaust... the note is intimidating, but not intrusive.

But if you go with the Greddy EVO2 don't you void your warranty?

if its a problem relating to the exhaust...

for example.

You install the greddy... and your A/C stops working... your covered
You install the greddy... and your rear bumper melts from rubbing ... NOT covered.

Nice, thanks for the info Type X. I would imagine if you have the exhaust installed correctly there shouldn't really be any issues regarding exhaust. Still waiting for them to find me an Si so i guess i have some time to think about my mods.

Sounds good for being axle-back. It really looks close to the stock exhaust though.
