Just verifying before I go and buy a 92-96 Prelude auto transmission to put into my 5th gen. Transmission finally seems like it's going to fail soon, despite efforts to keep it going until I could get more cash, and due to price and availability, getting a new 5th gen transmission would be almost impossible right now, considering I need a transmission like, now, and I still need to pay for install.

 

wrong!...if youre car is tiptronic, then the 4th gen will not fit...also i think that there are shafts that will get in the way of the tranny...just because the engine is the same size, does necesarily mean that it will fit....but im not really sure, so im positive someone will enlighten us about this

 

can someone follow up on this? I am also curios about this option.

 

I just spent a Year trying to get my 97 running again. No the 4th gen will not work. The trans has to be a m6ha trans. It only cam in the 97-01 and is swapable between these years only. i have 2 im trying to rebuild myself since the shop i paid refused to honor anything (they think they rebuilt it correctly).
