Default Considering purchasing....

So...On my way to class I ride by the Honda dealership in the area to see if they have a new Si...and to my liking I do a double-take...sitting there is a fresh of the truck Habenero Red Pearl Si...I get out and take a look...basic Si..No HFP stuff and no Navi...simple and just what I might want...The salesmen asks me if I want to take it on a test drive...but I had to make it class so I turned him down. While in class I decided "what the hell" take it for a spin and see how you like it. So after class, I proceeded home to fetch my mint 2000 milano red si and drive it to the dealer to show em Im serious about Si's. Anyway... we drove it..nice and smooth...not alot of power difference but noticeable none-the-less. Ok...I asked the price...24658..What the hell...after some negotiating they could give me 9000 trade in for my mint 2000 Si and knock the price down to 23658...IS THIS A GOOD DEAL...my Si has 121XXX miles on it...so I was surprised when they told me they could meet that trade in value (I told em I could easily sell it myself for AT LEAST 9000)...well lets hear some thoughts...DEAL OR NO DEAL...

considering your high mileages i think that's good deal for 9G trade in ...look at my 2007 Fit only 12K and they want $11k trade value....sour deal so it didn't go thru..

no its not a good deal

back when my friend was trying to decide whether or not to sell his MINT milano 00 SI.. i KBBed it and with 131k miles with everthing excellent, it still came in at over $10,000 KBB.

I got my car with summer tires, lojack, tint, some other security crap and a arseload of warranty for just a tad over 25k. No dice man. Screw that dealer. I got mine when the Si was still suffering from price 'inflation' as the dealers like to call it. Now they are less desired since most die hard people got their 06 model.

Are you still paying on the Si you have now? Because if not, those numbers, by my math, don't add up...

Because if your Si is paid off, and they will give you $9,000 for it, and sell you the FG for $24,658, that would bring the total price of the FG down to $15,658.

But, like it has been said before... even if it isn't paid off yet, spend your money at another dealership if you want a bas(ic)e Civic Si. $25k for a bottom line Si is TOO much, like Demonis said.

For sure a bad deal. No matter where you live there is always someone who will pay what your asking if not even more for your car. If you really want an Si, put your car in the trader and just sit and wait for the craze to die down then go and negotiate hardcore. The demand is so high and nobody wants to pay 28k for a new Si, especially after being put on a waiting list only to get shafted.

I stopped by my local Honda dealer to check out the Si, they happened to have a habinero red 2 door and 4 door. The salesperson asked if I wanted to drive one and away we went. Honestly when I first saw the inside of the Si the dashboard setup looked kind of weird, but after driving it it made perfect sense. I loved the seats, nice side bolsters and very soft. I could tell the dbw lag a little bit, but it wasn't a big deal after driving a few minutes. Overall a nice car, but the bad part is the sales manager said since the Si was so rare(haha) he wouldn't budge on the price. The price included a $1,400 addendum for "paint protection".

good luck on your purchase!
if your not in a hurry, just hand him your card and tell him you are going to pay XX,XXX.XX amount when theyre ready, and to give you a call...if the amount is fair they will call.
