Good evening, I've just spent about 45 minutes (Again) sticking the glass of my 97 civic ex back into the tracks. Whats up with this common problem? I work with two guys, 2000si and 99 civic ex that have the same complaint. Who in here has the answer for the perminate fix? Change window fur, bend this or that, adjust here and there. How about a letter to the Honda people?? Will the dealers stand behind any of this? Who can I contact about recalls? It is gettin cold here in PA and I dont want this chore all winter. Who is the contact for replacement window fuzzies (tracks) Somebody save me!!!!!!! Thanks Toby

 

i know how u fell. that happened to me last winter here i cali. where it rains alot. and it happened one nite when it was pooring down. i went to my honda dealer and they where lost i heard to replace the tracks which i did just a few days ago. hope this helps. someone else have a solution?

the rubber piece that the window runs in might be torn down in the door. That is what was wrong with mine. Replaced and its good as new

its been working great for me for over a year now.

 

the rubber seal is supposed to be lubed every other oil change to keep them soft. after they dry out and it pushes the window out of the track it is a good idea to replace the regulator casue the force of the motor usually bends them before the window overcomes the track

 

Rubber seal is called a run channel

i used to work at a Honda dealer, and we'd replace those constantly.

I'd start there, and while your there, ask them what they use for rubber lube.
We carried this stuff by Worth, its called Rubber care, i think. Its a non-petroleum based lubricatnt for rubber, i used it on my del sol and it worked great.

 

i just fixed mine again on wednesday

i started my car in the morning to let it warm up and i put the window down to get the condensation off the window but when i was driving off the window wouldnt come back up

had to drive 80 miles in the cold *** morning to get school and back with the window halfway down

its not so hard to fix but its ghey

What I did was get some silicon lubricant, NOT wd-40, and spray it down the track. Additionally I do not ever shut my door with the window down. Hasn't happend to me since.

 

couple winters ago my drivers side got off track and called the dealer and they said it would be middle next week for them to look at it so I stayed after work that day and took the door panel off and fixed it myself. I remember having to remove the speaker and then a bolt that is behind it and it allowed me to move the track back and forth so I finally got it over the edge and pulled it as tight as I could against the window and put the bolt back in and it hasn't gotten off track since and it's been at least 3 yrs now. I will say the passenger side moves very slow especially in the wintertime.

 

Any one know where to get the rubber run channel for the widow to move up and down in. Dealer says 100 bucks per side OUCH Some one else must make it?? Thanks Toby

 

Ah I have same problem I was thinking to lube her up!
Im glad to see this is a common problem. I feel your window pane LOL
Punn intended!!! I'll let you know if lubing her dry crack helps.
I hope her mouldings not blown out. It seems the winter season is the cause.

 

Haha, my pasengers always tell me that my window is broken. I just tell them to roll it up a bit and then back down, kind of embarrassing imo.

 

maybe some one try to flex the window and the track thats inside the door broke!1!

Happened to my driverside window 2 years ago. Its easy getting it back on track. But its a waste of time to do it every few weeks. The Honda dealership replaced the rubber strips for $375. My passengerside window is starting to come off track but I lubed it and now there is no problem. The DIY link is great help.

 

If the rubber seal is still working, just re-tighten bolt/nut #19 and #22 in this diagram:

 

what brand silicon lubricant? and would you just spary it down the left and right edges of the window or would i have to take my door panel off?

 

Tackling this tomorrow. Going to checkers now to go get some rubber lube or silicone spray. Whichever they have. Driving with your window down, having rain start on you and not being able to roll your window up SUCKS.

WD40 will kill the rubber in your tracks. If I was you I'd get some silicone grease and lube it up that way ASAP.
