Default Important question

I just added the ITB's, and smsp header and right now its open header.

while the head was off a little bit of oil got in the cylinders.

I went to start it and it ran like *** for like 2 seconds and shut off and there was a bit a white smoke....this should be normal right? I didn't expect it to run with the new mods...

whats worse is that I left my caR there yesterday so he could cut and weld my exhaust for me, but now he didn't get to it and I will have to tune open header....im freaking pissed.

I agree if anything is in the cylinders you will get smoke. Did you build this motor yourself?

I tuned open header too, not a big deal. your tune wont be as good open header because your O2 will be so close to the end of the header. so Im sure jeff will be conservative with it (unless you happened to get another bung welded further upstream on the header).

you definitely want to make sure the timing belt is on correctly. after you put it on you want to make sure you have everything lined up correctly, and then manually rotate the crank by hand several times making sure no teeth are out of alignment on the cam gears and everything stays TDC. then you can check belt tension and valve lash. jeff will look it over before he starts so dont sweat it.

Yes I rebuild it at home...but I had a experienced honda tuner pretty much do all the work, hes rebuild about 10 motors like mine and I only had 4 bent valves.

yea I turned the crank by hand probably 3 times and it turned normal, no valves hitting pistons. each time it was at TDC...maybe 1-2 degrees off on the crank pulley (from the white mark) but I am told thats normal and the belt is DAM tight, I took the spring out, put a coat hanger on it and pulled it by hand...much tighter than the tensioner woulda gotten it, but no too tight.

I checked the valve lash....2mm for toda cams. and yes I had to do all 16 valves

you dont want your timing belt TOO tight, it can put a lot of stress on the oil and water pumps, and the cams. just snug it. I have my spring removed as well and use the coat hanger method. as long as everything stayed TDC after rotating the crank you should be fine.

it shouldn't be too tight....It still has some deflection. Im just freaking cause my family mechanic keeps telling me, that besides the tuning the car should run with those ITB"s and if its not the timing belt if Fed...., but like I said, all the markings line up?!

I mean christ, I added a smsp header and ITB's....it shouldn't run from what i've been told
