When I bought my car it had some knockoff mirrors on it. They look ok, but I bought some oem ones.
To swap em is there anything I need to know? How do I get started? Just remove the inside cover with snaps?

This is the way I do it.
1.Open door.
2.Remove speaker cover and speaker.
3.Remove bolts around speaker housing.
4.Remove screw holding window button garnish. Remove garnish and unplug connector.
5.Remove screw holding door opener garnish. Remove garnish and unplug connector.
6.Pull on bottom of door panel.
7.Remove the mirror garnish. (in corner by mirror).Unplug connector if you have door tweeters.
8.Remove door panel.
9.You should see 3 nuts holding the mirror on. Depending on what type of mirrors are there now it could be screws. Also if the mirrors are power unplug the connector.
10.Loosen the nuts or screw till you feel the mirror start to seperate from the door. Hold on to the mirror and remove the nuts/screws.
11.The mirrors should come off with a little help.
12.Install the OEM mirrors and reassemble everything.
Good luck.
Tools needed:
Phillips screw driver
8mm or 10mm socket wrench.

How so more frustrating? The mirror doesnt look like it connects to anything as far down into the door panel.

Yeah but its a bitch to get the mirror garnish off and back on with out loosening up the door panel.
Trust me I just put my OEM mirrors back on my 96 Civic.

it's going to have to wait at least a few days anyway. I f'ed up my arm fighting last night. I think I either pulled a muscle or tennis elbow is settling in.
