1997 Accord front noise
My 97 Accord had CV joints/axles replaced within the past 2 years. Here recently I have had a popping noise up front when you stop or turn. Now if I start off or let off the gas it pops. If I start and stop or just push the gas pedal and release it quick it will pop as you go on and off the gas. Would you lean toward an axle/cv joint again or the front lower control arm(radius arm) bushings? Any help is appreciated!!
what you describe could be a lot of things.... basically anything that has a rubber bushing on the front end of the car ( struts, sway bar, lower control arm, motor mounts, even ball joints and tie-rod ends) can cause this to happen. usually what I do is bounce the car on the ground to see if I can duplicate the sound. After that, I pry on the ball joints, push on the tie-rod ends and sway bar etc. Look for excessive play anywhere, and if you can't duplicate the sound, really try to hone in on when exactly the sound happens, and where it comes from.
Most of the time C/V axles won't make any sound in the straight away or upon acceleration. Generally they will 'chatter' when turning corners, but not always....

I doubt the axle/cv joint is the issue. Due to previous experience on other vehicles and the kind of hard thud (for lack of better term) I am thinking the control arm but I will check on the other areas where bushings are involved. Being a 97 and about 112,000 miles means it could be any of the areas. Thanks for the info.
Found the problem; it was the front engine support/mount. It actually appears to be just a torque mount but either way the rubber inside the actual mount was broken in 2 pieces. Lifetime warranty replacement at Autozone for $31.
