Default 1996 Integra VTI-R

I have done extensive research on many many forums about engine rebuilding, and they have presented me with a few questions - as most of you already know by now i'm a super noob at this stuff so sorry for the questions.

How much will it cost for a complete B18C2 engine rebuild?
If i've done an complete engine rebuild does that mean the engine is basically brand new with 0kms?
Lastly what are all the parts needed for a complete engine rebuild?
Would it be cheaper to buy a new B18C2?

thanks as always to the help that is given around here!!

I am assuming the b18c2 is equivilent to the b18c1 gsr motor here in america?

in any case, are you looking to re-build the engine yourself? or have it dont by a shop

a full re-build will consist of:

cylinderwall hone
cleaning of the old pistons
new rings
new rod bearings
re-balanced crankshaft
new main and thrust bearings
new oil and water pump
new gaskets (oil pan, front and rear main seals, oil pickup, head, intake manifold, throttle body, exhaust manifold, etc..)
resurfaced head
new valves seals
possibly new valve springs
cleaned vtec solenoid

that is all to get your entire engine back to running like a brand new one, im sure i left a few things out but try to research the prices for these in your area to give you a general figure if you do the re-build yourself, or ask a local shop how much they charge to perform these services

good luck

Are you wanting to just rebuilt it to stock? if so, it would probably be cheaper if you sold that engine and just bought a used low km engine.

If you are going to rebuild it to brand new, you might as well upgrade some parts (pistons, camshafts, valve springs, valves, cam gears, etc....) and have a better than stock engine with more power.

While everything is out, I'd recommend rebuilding the tranny as well.

Integra VTi-R = GSR BTW

i'm not sure what prices in your area are but in the US, a low mile/kilo. gsr motor runs between $2800- $4200 give or take a little. and by low mileagae motor, that could mean anything. my friend bought a low mileage B16 and it burnt oil and smoked. a rebuild will cost a little more than a full swap but you will know the origin of your motor and it will be more powerful too, all while being brand new or close to it.
