Default Electrical system crapped out

98 honda accord.

So recently i noticed my starter was sounding sluggish and one day after leaving my door open for a bit the car barely started so i figured it was obviously time to throw in a new battery (its been about 3-4 years). I thought all was well until i got in my car and tryed to start it today. The the starter began to crank and all the lights came on like normal for like maybe a second and then the entire electrical system just died very abruptly. Everything, not even the dash lights will work. Any ideas?

its possible that in that 3-4 year period.. the battery just went dead... what is the CCA of the battery that you had in your car?? i was going to say it was your alternator.. but if it was your battery would have ran out way before 3-4 years.. i think its just time for another battery.. it was probably just an old battery issue.. replace it.. with only 3-4 years.. it should have a warranty.. so just go replace it for free... whereever you got it

your battery cable loose, or you have a defective battery. if your bat good; check our charging system and main relay.

also check your plug wires, plugs, distributer etc with a ohm meter. if anything bad, replace them, don't install after market, put OEM.

why we called it Honda because it has Honda Parts, if you put after market, it's not a Honda any more. lol

so i just tryed to start it again in between class just to see...and i had a bit of power...power locks worked and dome lights came on. Put in the key and tryed to start and this time only heard only 1 single click. The more i messed with it, the dimmer the dome lights got....

yep your battery is fried... your cables are all fine from what it sounds like because your getting some power.. between classes its trying to charge back up.. but its really too dead to make much difference... . jump the car.. and go to wherever you got the battery and replace it and get another for free...

Simple diag...

Sounds like you've replaced the battery already for this problem. So we'll say that your battery is good. Now lets take a look everything else.. Check your cables for corrosion and excessive resistance. Then check your charging system and go from there..

yes but it could be just a simple conclusion... like if the battery just ran out of juice... like if it wasnt too big of a battery to begin with... and somehting like a sound system or static drain or power drain.. messed the battery
