have you researched sythetics on your own and come to the choice to use them yourself? Or are you doing it because the commercial and other people say its a good idea?

Seriously...

Ask yourself the following questions:

Do I track my car?
How often do I change the oil?
Do I drive my car very hard?

If you dont track your car a whole lot and you do an oil change every 2500-3000 miles you really dont need to spend money on synthetic. A high quality regular oil will do you just fine and save you some bucks.

I personally dont believe anyone here relly needs to use a sythetic oil. Some people tend to disagree, but thats my opinion. But in the end its your money and you can spend it however you want to.

I USED to get Mobil 1 5W30 for like 24.95 for 6 quarts at autozone.

so is mine.. and it see's VTEC daily... I know I drive my car hard so why not put in good oil and filters... to me its cheap insurnace... and its really not that much since I do my own oil changes and other maintenance work.... I figure if I were to take it out for the dealer, or a quick lube place.. it would cost me approx $20 for bulk dino oil and bulk/generic filters.....

doing it myself.. it costs about $16 for the Mobil1 oil and like $5-10 for an oil filter (STP, Honda, Purolator Pure One, Bosch, or Mobil 1) and like 20 minutes of my time (less time than it would take for me to drive to the quick lube.. and wait for them to service my car)... so doing it myself and using synthetic is about the same cost as going out to a quick lube and getting bulk oil and generic filter.. but the difference is 1) im using synthetic oil 2) im using a good oil filter 3) I know the job is done correctly and w/ care... since its my car.. 4) save time...

its still cheaper at costco... its $21.96/case for 6 quarts.. thats $3.66/quart in the case.... for me Costco would be next to Target (in the Alhambra stores).. so I'd get it at costco .. autozone, kragen, pep boys is like $4.50 usually.. so I just buy my Mobil 1 when I go buy food and stuffs at costco since I go weekly and its only $3.66/quart..
