I have an 86 CRX Dx with the stock 1.5 and recently it started missing and idling rough when first strarted, and now it surges in any gear under load. I just put a rotor, plugs airfilter and wires on it but it still runs like this. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what to check next? Thanks

 

I have the same kind of problem, not missing but surging and wild flucs in the 4-6k range. I was guessing its fuel related so I was thinking injectors probably but it could be pressure regulator or fuel pump or **** who knows?


Since I was leaning towards injectors i put seafoam in it today. It's definitely smoother at high rpms but I have to reset the computer tomorrow am.

 

Since you have a D15b2 and dont have injectors. I would pull the fuel filter out and look at the fuel in it. If the fuel is clean then replace filter. If it looks a little muddy then your gas tank has rust in it and would cause this problem. Now surging can also come from other things like low oil, bad distributor, and low fuel pressure,.

 

I unclogged the gas cap vent and now its less of a miss and there is still some backfiring at around 5-5.5k RPM but the surging is gone, so i guess i'll try putting a new fuel filter in it.
