Default **Too Much Go - Not Enough Turn - DC suspension build*HELP**

Alright, I have a '95 LS that is turbo (kinda more of a drag car I guess) but it sees alot of street and I would love to hit a road track some day ... really its just a fast toy, not really dedicated to anything (drag/street/autoX/etc) .

Been working on the turbo set up for awhile and not enough money to go around, so the suspension is lacking.

Current set up:
Omni power coil overs (spring and sleeve slip over style)
Omni power F&R camber kit
Cheap *** strut tower brace
Stock everything else ... including blown stock shocks

Rides like *** ... kinda rough and bouncy, floats at speed, rolls in corners ... THIS THING IS SLOPPY! IT'S A FCKN DEATH TRAP

So, I am sick of it and I want to really make it stick to the road.

I realize the shocks are 90% of the problem. Had a set of KYB AGXs on my previous car ('01 GSR) and liked them but it was a DD and never got REALLY pushed like I hope to push this car ...

Trying to stay cheap as possible but willing to spend a little to get the handling I want. Don't really care about ride as long as it'll hook the hell out of a corner.

So.....

Add Koni Yellows ?
Add KYB AGX and a better sway bar?
Ditch the Omni coils and go full coil over?

Lookin for input from racers or the like, not whats on your DD

Cheap like how cheap?

If you wanna keep it in the under a few hundred than I'd do adjustable shocks (which ever you choose) and have them adjusted to be stiffer....

If you wanna get the best for say 700ish (and have better track set ups) than I'd do like Skunk 2 coil over set and call it a day (I've read several reviews and everybody's been happy with um) or K Sports or Form n Functions.... it's all in how much you wanna spend.

Well I am tempted to just go KYB AGX ... for $300

But alot of people say the Koni Yellows are superior, but at ~$500 I could pretty much take that cash + sell my Omni sleeves and get some full coil overs ... like maybe the Form n Functions ...

But, if I only dropped 300 on the KYBs I could afford to buy some other stuff like maybe a sway bar and a rear strut brace ...

So....

Would Omni sleeves+KYB AGXs+Sway Bar+Strut Braces out handle just a set of full coil overs ???

I doubt coil-over sleeve kit on adjustable struts would handle better than coil-over full sets...... but it's all in cost to performance.

Since you're more wanting race type driving over daily driving I'd save up for the complete coil over set and get the sway bar n brace later on. If it was for dd I'd say get the AGX's but you say you're looking more toward race form driving and a complete coil over set will out perform the omni's n agx's.

You talk like you are willing to buy a good suspension but you write like you're going to get a worthless suspension. KYB's are not going to be good for track days. Don't even bother trying to upgrade if you're going to half *** it. Unless it's only for DD.

Koni Yellows w/ GC coilovers (300-400f/325-425r), 22mm oem/jdm rear sway bar ($105), set camber 1.5* neg. front and back, and if you want swap front UCAs to gain a couple degrees of caster. This is just my ideal street/"track" setup.

Sway bar: http://geocities.com/bretq/swaybar_install.html

What tires do you have now?

I wouldn't spend any less on my suspension setup then this, it just doesn't make sense. At least to me.

The Koni Yellow / GC combo runs $850 which is higher than several full coil overs
Function & Form $699
D2 Racing Sport $740
KSport $600

Really lookin at the KSports now since they are 36 way adjustable and have a 1yr warranty ... plus the nice price tag.

OBX coilovers had a 1 year warranty as well...worst crap you can buy. Don't "save" the money. Just because they are coilovers doesn't meean they are good quality.

You know, there's a good reason a lot of people recommend the Koni/GC combo. If you shop around you can get them for a little under $800.
