1988 88 crx dx std 5-speed for sale in ohio
(I'm at work currently and will have to post pictures of the car later when i get a chance.)
I've had this CRX for a while, it was a purchase i made off of Ebay. I drove to MD to pick up the car from the dealership it was traded in at and drove it home, no problems at all during the 500 mile trip and got 40 mpg to boot! To this day, the car has never given me a problem nor hesitated to start in anyway.
I have now had the car for over 6 months and cannot decide what i want to do with it. My first intentions were to restore the car and just get really good gas mileage on my daily commute to work. But my thoughts quickly turned to more competative intentions: Drag, Autocross, Circuit racing, and even Rallycross.
Though indecisive i proceeded to prep the car generically. I removed the broken AC unit, bracket, belts, ect and began removing random hoses and electronic associated with the AC. Then removed interior carpet and plastic trim in the rear half of the car. The hood latch did not work so i installed hood pins to keep it closed and replaced the restrictive factory header with an aftermarket unit (the car already had a Flowmaster Catback on it, so the header completed the exhaust)
I now simply can't decide what to do with it. The car runs great, could use a tire balance and new brakes but as far as the car being a good runner, i do not believe it to have any problems.
Now cosmetically, well that's another story. The car is white with blue interior, but it's downfall is really the outside. Both rear fenders have the common honda fender rust (which i've sprayed with a sealer in hopes the rust will not spread until they are replaced) and the hood and front bumper are pitted pretty good. The car does not appear to have ever been in an accident (it does have a clear and clean title) and again it's only problems are, that i am aware of, these minor commetic issues which are pretty easy fixes in the honda world. The roof, doors and rear bumper are in pretty good shape.
The car has over 200k miles on it, with a new valve cover gasket, spark plug gormets, tires, after market 5 spoke silver 15 inch rims, advanced sythetic oils only, and 92 octane Gasoline (it's all i run in my cars). The car is a 5-speed and has a 1.5l DX motor in it which i assume is the original, but am not sure. The tranny shifts well, not grinds or problems, but the car could use a new clutch. I drive this car at least once a week to two weeks and make sure it's started and let to idle at least once a week. My wife and I own a wrx and a legacy so this car is not our daily driver.
I would be interest in either selling this car outright or trading for a Subaru. The condition for trading would be that the Subaru would have to be a 5-speed since i would probably be preping it for rallycross or snow events, the type of engine does not matter, i do perfer impreza wagons but would concider any Subaru related trade. The condition for selling outright with no trader would be that the person buying the CRX would have to come pick it up. I have faith that this car can make a long trek if it needs to because it's never given me any problems.
