ideas on mounting MSD box in crampped engine bay
I have a 91 hatch with B16a engine. I have a msd digital 6 plus and MSD high voltage coil that i want to install! I'm running a cold air intake and i still have the battery in the engine bay so i'm kinda limited with space!
Anyone have pics/ideas of thier MSD install in EF engine bay! Thanks

make a nice simple custom bracket and attach it to the wheel well or something and get it out into the engine bay...taking up less space..

I got my car with a crane hi-6...it was mounted on the drivers side in front of the shock tower...it only had 2 screws in it though..the coil was mounted high on the back wall...ill get you a pic later..

Relocate battery and place it on the battery tray. OR, fabricate a bracket that holds the MSD UNDER the battery, mounted upside down. There should be plenty of room. this was my second choice, but I already had 4 gauge wired to the back for my old stereo (so I put the battery in the well). Actually, relocating the battery makes a noticeable difference in weight transfer. Worth it IMO, Overkll

if you wish to retain your MSD in your engine bay, a clean area to mount (where i mounted mine) is against the fire wall over my VIN numbers while relocating a single bracket. Fits well and the external coil is tucked underneath the CAI piping next to my battery.. Sorry I wish i had pics of it.
I just got the Summit kit. Its like 42.50 and its got WAAAAYY too much positive cable, like 20 feet. you just have to drill holes in the box for the J-clamps, put your battery in, ground it out and connect the positive terminal to the car's harness under the hood, and go. Simple
The box is suppose to be mounted in a cool moist place, alot of times these things will get messed up if there located in a hot environment such as under the hood. I would say mount it inside the cabin.

My dad fabricated a mount that sits under my 6a box, the two front screws are machine screws and the rear goes through the lip along the firewall in my engine compartment. It sits right in the front, and it's really in a good spot being so close to everything else.

Just run the black wire from the MSD to the negative terminal on your battery.
