Cheapest wat to small my teg
Hey i need to drop my gsr 4 dr w/ the cheapest way possible. I'm a broke high school kid and will go w/ all the new struts and shocks when i graduate but for now just want a cheap way to Slam it like 2 in all around. any help would be great. thanx will be sittin on 17's
I guess the answer would be to get cheap *** ebay springs or coilover sleves. But you must realize that this will ride REALLY bad and if you slam it then you blow the shock prety quick, and the 17's will bottom out on the top of the front fender. I was not slammed(maybe a 1.5" drop) on 17's and it use to rub, I had to add a bump stop just to stop it rubing.
dont cut your springs, it will rasie the spring rate to some ungodley amount and you will have a total crap ride.
They way I stoped wheel rub was to sell my 17's. Also I had to add a bump stop to the shock shaft to limit the travel. Pretty much rode like crap.

Like i said im not to much into the "perfect" ride right now just want to to look good and for it to be dropped. Only gonna be driving it during the summer this is my winter project.

LOL don't do this. Your car is going to be so bouncy your head will go through the roof. KYB GR2 shocks and say h&r sport springs can be had for $340 on ebay. Bot the best but dont get cheaper than that.

Just think of it this way, if you lower your car with some type of way not involving new shocks..
Pretty much no one will want to ride in your car anymore.
If you do lower it with only changing your springs, it will have a Horrible ride,
and then shortly after your shocks will blow, leading to an even worse ride,
When you hit bumps, instead of that one spot bouncing a little,
your whole car will take the bump, and your nosing going up, and down.
So pretty much, get the idea out of your head, it's a seriously stupid thing to do,
You make think it's cool to be "lowered" with only changing out springs,
But it really is the one thing you do not want to do, You'll definitely regret it later on.
:edit:
And if you drive "fast" your car will handle Way worse,
also you would be more prone to have an accident because of the horrible ride.

He asked for the cheapest way possible......not my/your opinion. Thus, I told him the cheapest way possible....if he wants to do things half-assed, thats all on him. Cutting your springs is stupid and most likely you wont cut them evenly and on top of all of the above mentioned stuff, you'll have an off balanced car....woot woot for the right rear thats a quarter inch higher then the rest.

yeah, but maybe he doesnt know the consequences of doing the cheapest way possible...
Dropping ur car 2 inches with nothing but springs/coils is not a good idea. your stock shocks WILL blow. when? i cant say. it could be in 6hr.s afterwards, or it could be a few months (ive heard, and seen both) my friend had stechs on his civic for about a year with stock shocks, and it didnt blow. now, they are blown, and its a HORRIBLE ride. my other friend dropped his car on stock shocks, and acutally bought a napa replacement b/c the old strut seized to the bolt that hots the tophat down, and that one, and the other 4 blew in about 2 days.
yes, if you want the cheapest way, get ebay coils. but, think of it this way. after the 2-3 days of the car looking badass b/c its dropped socal style, do you thing your not gonna mind the bad ride?
even if you get new shocks, hell, konis, the ride is still gonna suck b.c of the shitty ebay coils. im my opionion, i would say wait. its gonna be a winter project like you said so who cares if its stock height. wait till you get money, hell, xmas is coming soon, and get a good set of springs, or full coils, if you can afford it.

Alright well. never thought it was that big of a deal. but i guess it is. and about that ebay package does it lower it ? And what does the car look like stock height on 17's. any pics?? looked didnt see anything
oh and putting 17s on it will raise the car and make it look silly, if you want make it looke lowerd put smaler rims on it. I put on my 17s right before my suspension and it looked like i gave it a lift kit, i dont think i have any pics though cause my hardrive crashed and i lost them all

Famous last words until you actually cut the springs, then you'll go "Shiet.. I shouldn't have cut them". I only say this because when I was younger I knew guys who did it and were NOT happy with the results. Not to mention the safety factor, it could be uneven, shocks going on you at any time. Like someone else said it could be days or months.
I agree with the other guys who mentioned getting cheaper Ebay stuff to drop it. I understand people get impatient when wanting work done to their car but if you do it right (save up, find deals etc) then it's worth the wait. As opposed to having to redo it, or loose your ride in favor of look then you'll still hafta wait till you save up to fix it. If you're not going to really be driving it until Next spring/summer why does it matter how it sits for now? Just curious.
Ehh just my 2cents-

Uh.....17s with smaller tires are the same overall diameter and dont lower or raise the car at all.

Yeah 17's with proper sized tire will not raise your car, but will give the illusion that it is raised.
My buddy has 17's on his stock ls and it looks like a 4X4.

Just planning for the future not doing it anytime soon. Just seeing how much work and everything im going to have to do. And i think im going to wait and just buy fully adjustable coilover kit. Thanx for all of the input helped a lot.
you could just get some H&R OE springs or Tein H or S Tech and match them with your oem shocks. its like a 1.5-1.8 drop but its cheap and rides smoothe. I have the H&R's on my girls ride and it rides nice on oem shocks. OR just say fugg it and do a full koni/groundcontrol setup
17's were not meant to be on integras, unless youre doing a big brake job, which i doubt a "broke high school kid" would. just buy neuspeeds and put them on kgb gr2's. its cheap and its not cutting your springs, which that is the worst idea ever. people die from **** like that. id polish your factory wheels or powdercoat them, if theyre the alloys. otherwise buy some rota 16's. at least thats wat id do, because tegs on 17 looks ridiculous.
