CenterForce Dual Friction,

Anyone with experience about this clutch ?

 

i'd go with ACT

Buddy had one in his DA. Great clutch IMO.

 

had one in my sohc d15b...

felt like stock, grabbed just a bit more than it though. personally wanted something stiffer, and with a better feel. exedy stg1 for street use FTW

It's all about the BREAK-IN with these clutches.

I properly broke mine in in my 1992 Si HB with the stock engine (circa 1998!) and it grabbed nicely and stood up to the retarded abuse I put it through.

The Centerforce name itself isn't highly regarded in the honda community, and you will definately get more "Go ACT" replies and such, but my experience was that it was a good clutch for my stockish D16Z6.

 

im running a centerforce stage 2 clutch in my d16y7 very soft clutch easy to put to the floor,, pro somthing you dont want,, but it grabs real nice and takes the abuse

Unless Centerforce has completely changed their clutch line-up I don't think they offer "stage 2" or anything named like that. do you mean Centerforce II? i know that's just "2" and not "stage 2."

They have Centerforce "II" which is basically a stock replacement, and then they have "Dual Friction" which is the one being discussed here.

Clutch Masters, Competition Clutch, and a handful of other clutch manufacturers call theirs in "stages" but not Centerforce.

 

So,

"Dual Friction" , does ACT make this type of clutch as well ?

No.

"Dual Friction" I believe is a term coined from the fact that each side of the clutch disc has a completely different friction material, and only Centerforce has this particular name clutch kit.

I will say that overall ACT is IMO the best clutch ever. I put one in my wife's B16A2 hatchback over 5 years ago and I'm not shitting you after drag racing, auto-Xing, daily driving, etc. the clutch STILL grabs hard as **** even today with the new owner of the car.

 

Not that you asked, the Clutch masters stuff is pretty good. I have had no problems in the last two cars I have had the stage three in and I had an ACT in my GSR... It had a lot of chatter but it held hard....

its really yours choice, just make sure its sprung for the street

i have the exedy oe clutch in my Y8 and the pedal feel is way too soft compared to my stock clutch...i'd still stick with the act oe or stage 1...

 

What's the most amount of power you can expect a dual friction clutch to hold?
