How Quick Are The Base Model LX's?
I currently have a LX. Let me just say they're not that fast. I lost to an auto tC. So that's saying something. In a quarter mile, expect probably around 16/17, maybe more.
That's why I traded it in for an Si.

So it is worth the extra $$$ for an Si? Im just wondering becuase im in the market for one. How quick is the Si? And how much would a good down payment be? Im ready to put down 10k. Thanks for the info.
I personally would tell you to get the Si. I regret not getting it when I had the chance. Instead I bought the LX and now look at me. I'm buying the Si anyways.
Yeah, im debating on if I should or not. They payments dont bug me at all, its the damn insurance. IM only 18 and the insurance on the Si is almost double that of the LX. I know the LX isnt a speed machine, but is it fun to drive? And cant i always upgrade the speed? ie: Exhaust systems, intakes, turbos etc? Thanks again.
I'm 19. My insurance on an LX is $269 a month. My insurance company said it shouldn't go up that much more with the Si, maybe a couple of bucks. Might be the same for you?
Edit: Bolt on's help, but won't do that much of increase to HP.

Hmm...what is your insurance rate? Mine is gonna be somewhere close to 17% due to the fact that I have no credit. Are the base models fun to drive?
Don't get me wrong, I like my Lx. I just want to drive a manual and I like the extra HP with the Si. My interest rate for the LX was 10.99%. I had maybe half a year worth of credit history. I'm hoping it will be lower for the Si since time has gone by and my credit is still good.
Dude this is not even a debate trade it in for the si right away the si is better in every way it turns heads all day its plus its alot of fun to drive. It sounds sick stock, handle's like its on rails stock, the sound system is great stock, fuel economy is in the high 20's stock, it can not be beat. I would trade in your lx right away and get some k20z3 power you need it in your life !
Yeah, how do you achieve credit anyways? Well, I went to the Honda website and did their little 'Payment Calculator' and if I put 9k down on an '07 Si they payments will be $317. That doesnt bug me, the insurance is like $467. Are there anyways these price can fluctuate up or down. (By the way, I dont plan on doing all of this for about 6months) Thanks again for the help Sacrifice

If i were you i would get quote's from diff insurance company's > geico if not go under someone else's insurance you should not be paying that much for insurance there are loop holes in the insurance buisness use them.
whaaaat??!!!! 10.9% interest rate? is that from honda?, I thought i was getting ripped at 5.9% and 450+ a month for insurance...... **** man, mines like 150 for both my civics. I would have got the si but the waiting list was a year so i said screw it and got an lx. I'm happy with it, if i want speed i just take my other civic out.
Dude I'm 18 and I love my Lx. Yeah, it's not the fastest car in the world, but it's great on gas and in my opinion a lot of fun to drive. If you (and I for that matter) could afford it, an Si would definetely be a lot better of a choice, given the difference in power, handling, etc. However, if you are trying to stay in a budget and are looking for a fun car that's light on insurance and gas money, the FG1's are a good choice. You can trade it in for an Si when you get the money. As far as mods are concerned, I have an AEM CAI in, and I love it. The sound is awesome and it makes a bit in power, noticably around 3.5k to 5k RPM. I am also looking to get the Megan racing downpipe, and hopefully a catback exhaust when I can find something nice. I'm thinking all those mods will probably free up an extra 25ish HP together, given the amount of extra flow created with all those things combined. Well thats my two cents, but good luck figuring out what you want.
My previous Civic was a 2005 LX SE, and I LOVED it. I could toss it around and do a bit of agressive driving (for a SOHC non-modded car...), and it would happily oblige.
Sure, the LX doesn't come close to the Si, but it's still a car that is set up well for daily driving. However, if you want a bit of fun in your daily driving without tossing on bolt-ons or turbo, then go for the Si. It will be worth it. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure you'll dig the LX.

I drive an EX, and i've been very happy with it. The look is the same, without a spoiler that a lot of SI owners are removing, and you can always add rims later. If you want to pay 5k more at least for a car that has a leather steering wheel, aluminum pedals, and SI seats then go for it. The gain with a K20 engine doesn't offset the fact that neither car is a world beater. if you want speed save and buy a faster car like a Evo or WRX. IF you like the LOOK of the car and feel, with an identical sound system, get the LX. I won't lie though, every once in a while I wish I had the SI for speed and 6th gear... but you should also remember that you're what... 18? Cops are going to LOVE pulling you over in the SI, and THEN whats your insurance going to look like? I'd do yourself a favor and get the LX... it'll keep you in check.
The Si is plenty fast i would take it over a wrx anyday it sounds too good, and if the kid isnt driving like an asshat he shouldnt be getting pulled over i speed all the time and ive never gotten pulled over in my SI.
