Default Japanese License Plates

Allright i tried searching and couldnt find much so ill make a small thread real quick. This might have been asked before im not sure since im new here, but i recently acquired a 2001 type-r and im trying to go for that jdm look. I seen some cars with the japanese license plates with the letters and/or numbers etc on the front bumper. Im from San Diego and its real strict down here on what we can and cant do. Is it illegal to have one of those on or not?

Hell yes it's illegal to run a licence plate from antother country. You must have the DMV issued plate in place. You can mount both if you want, but the "USDM Style" plate must be there.

I'm sure if you have your real tags in the rear and the others in the front no one will care but who knows. Depends on the mood of the cop.

If you have to run a plate front and back, then thats what you have to do. Buy the plates, if you must have them, then save them for hardparking at the shows.

I personally think you should get the Euro plates, they are mad tyte!!! and then you could start your own class at the shows.....EDM!!!!

WTF is hardparking? Something gay that the ricers started or is it related to gangsta-style parking back in the 90's?

Ya i was thinking of putting the plate in front and relocating to the side and having my CA stickers and everything on it so at least it wouldnt be too illegal. I dont see why we couldnt because BMW's from the factory just have their logo in front on a shiny plate like my dads m3, and he hasnt had any problems. I guess my answer will have to come from the cops themselvs ugh

btw im thinking something like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...sting not the same exact thing but ya. The euro ones are nice too but maybe not my flavor.
