Default HID question for DA owners or anyone else that might now

ive been looking into some kits, manly just looking at the ones offered on ebay, cheapest place ive found them so far... but most kits offered there dont tell if it will fit a h4h bulb that we use in our jdm headlights... however some auctions state these kits will fit were a h4 bulb is used in the headlight.. how different is the h4h from the h4?

Has anyone installed HID's in the jdm headlight? or even used one of these kits of ebay?

For the price of some of them i may just wing it...

yes? no?

and yes i did do search but didn't come up with much at all..

h4h and h4 are different and not interchangeable unless you like grinding you jdm headlights. Please don't get an e-bay HID kit with out prjectors you will see very little effect as far as brighter lighting but everyone driving at you will know b/c they are now blind

Double the don't get HID without projectors. You'll blind oncomming traffic unless you point them at the ground, thus useless to you, and the light will just scatter.

hmm, learn something new everyday.. explains why my buddys wrx HIDs gave him no light, then he switched to a projector headlight, and they got alot brighter...

geuss ill try some aftermarket bulbs, i tryed a set in my civic once, and it really didn't do the job.. gave me a lil hint of blue in the light, but brightness, no!

Sucks because driving home from work at night ill drive 9-10 miles through mostly country setting with no street lights, and the high beams are just not cutting it anymore, im finding my self getting closer and closer to hitting some kinda animal, thank god nothing yet!

any one have any inputs on aftermarket bulb replacement?

This link shows you a store that sells the proper bulbs. It also shows you how to fabricate a shroud for the bulb so that it aims light properly. It looks like this person used the metal of a small touch up paint bottle to shroud the bulb.

Gotta love the nickel at the end of the shroud!

Check out the Sylvania Xenarc X1010 auxiliary low-beam kit. It installs just like a set of fog or driving lights, and costs about as much as a typical drop-in HID kit.
