it seems that everyone is breaking their axles no matter what mount kit they use...i know newman hasnt broken any and he is using hcp mounts...anyone else with horror stories from different brands of mount kits?? is my only fool proof plan is to get dss axles?? i just dont want alot of downtime due to snapped axles...help a bro out!

 

have ya tried driveshaftshop or get some custom beefy axles from raxles?

my friend snapped his driveshaft axles after a month he perfers just stock

 

My friend went through 2 sets of axles from Raxles in 3 weeks. His axles kept breaking in the same spot (busted the inner joint connector that goes into the tranny, busted it right in half with a piece of the axle stuck inside the tranny). One time it snapped when he was turning and floored it, and the other time was when shifting into 2nd gear during a race. A bitch to get out since you have to take the half shaft off to pop the piece out. Also, the axles would bind like a ***** on hard turns. As soon as he got a camber kit on, that cleared up everything.

IMO, Raxles didn't know what they were doing when it came to H22 axles. I told my friend to have them make some 86-89 Integra axles w/Prelude inner joints. Raxles insisted that their H22 axle combo was the correct one and that it wouldn't break. Well, they broke and my friend is in the process of sending them back for a full refund. We'll see what happens, but I'm not too impressed with Raxles. I know a few people are looking into DriveShaft.com for some axles... dunno what they'll get but we'll see with what they have to say. I'm not saying "don't by from Raxles" but I'm just pointing out our experience with them.

BTW, my friend is now running 86-89 teg axles (built by HCP) and hasn't had a problem since... and the fool still drives his car like a wild man on crack

 

and he has an h22 in a civic?
damn i was thinking about going thru Raxles with prelude inner and integra outer and they mentioned the axles were very beefy and will probably only break with wide *** slicks

 

i have the place racing mount kit, and i have broken there axles my axles and another shop that said "they won't break" well i must have the most powerfull STOCK JDM h22 in the world, because i have broken three axles, and am now tring out a set from the drive shaft shop stage 2. the look beefy as hell, lets see how they hold up. more to come....

 

Yeah, forgot to mention that his car is a 96 EK coupe... mine is a 92 EG hatch, but both still use the same axle combination. I'll take picts of the axles before he sends them back... pretty crazy looking.

 

i didnt know hcp sold axles. how much did he pay for them?? and arent driveshaft axles really expensive

 

haha, gotcha. wells, i know breaking axles is a bad thing, but it is a bragging right to POWER.......kinda like how the v8's say "i blew my differential" or "twisted my drivetrain".....kinda BRAGGIN power.....saying "i broke 4 sets of AXLES!!"

lol Well guys just finished putting the Type S engine into my 93 DX. Using Newman as a referrance I decided to use HCP mounts and I must say that I am happy with how the engine sits, although it will probably touch my hood a little do to height clearance..

I also just order a set of DSS Stage 3 axles so I will let everyone know if I run into any problems..

 

how much are you paying for the axles

 

im leaning more towards the hcp mounts also...i heard they sit farther back so the axles dont angle as much...i havent heard of any horror stories from them yet...

AEM fit just's right and look very nice.
driveshaft shop was kinda pricy, but Frank knew everthing that i had been doing before. he knew what i had used and where i had broke. i paid 5 bills for stage two, but i am sure to get customer satisfaction, from him. i rate that high on my list.

 

AEM for what car though, Civic or Integra..

And I would perfer the 3' inch if I could get it
