Default Redrilling (prelude vtec) rotors

I'll be redrilling prelude vtec rotors to 4 by 100 for my db8 and use them with legend calipers and caliper brackets. i'll be machining down the insides of the caliper brackets probably 2.5 to 3mm. anybody know if there's anything i can coat the new holes with to prevent any cracking from hole(s) to hole(s)? Thanks.

Use an actual lathe. Something that will drill at a slow verticle speed. That will reduce stress on the hole. Other than that just try to keep the distances between the holes maximized.

You do know that using the legend calipers will wear the pad unevenly since you will have the leading and trailing pistons reversed. The NSX calipers have the right orientation for our cars.

Use a drill press or a Bridgeport mill. Cutting oil is your friend.

That is a good point. I assume that the Legend had the calipers mounted behind the front wheels instead of in front like Integras. Perhaps a new bleeder can be added on the other side to allow for proper directionality.

You switch the calipers from right to left...and vice-versa.

With directional calipers, you need to keep the left on the left and the right on the right. The leading piston is always smaller than the trailing. The problem arises when you move a directional, rear mount caliper to a front mount application, as the bleeders will point downwards instead of upwards. If you just switch sides (left to right), the larger piston will lead and the pads will wear unevenly.

Well that is very cool... Just swap sides and you don't have un-even wear.

Very good info to know!!

As far as drilling the calipers.. I'd buy some pre-drilled.. That way it was done by a pro (suppose to anyway) and I'd trust it more than me and my goofy self doin it.

Now, are you upgrading the front rotors to 11" as well, or keeping the stock rotors up front and just changing the rear?

Or, are you using Legend calipers on the rear only?

No, you cannot switch sides. Switching sides leads to uneven pad wear due to the caliper directionality. You need to add a new bleeder or bleed the brakes by unmounting the caliper and inserting a block of wood while the original bleeder is facing upwards.

He is doing the front rotors and calipers, not the rears.

See, thats what I had read.. That switching them DID cause un-even wear.. I guess I just misunderstood what was said.. Stupid me.

i'm using the 11 inch rotors for the front... when i get around to it, i'll upgrade the rears to the 10.2 (or 10.4 whatever) inch rotors from an ep3.

thanks for the help everybody
