Well Ive been doing some research on this and I dont understand whey you would have to bypass the coolant? Or is this gasket just a straight bolt on with no other modification?

 

Hondata gasket is a gasket between the intake manifold and the block. If thats the gasket your talking about.

 

Yes. What I dont understand is why do you have to block the coolent?

 

No idea what you're talking about. Off with the OEM gasket, on with the hondata gasket. heard and did nothing about blocking coolant.

I think some other manufacturers have a gasket that bypassed the heater hose coolant line (just blocks it off). No exactly why'd you'd want that though unless you have a race car.

The Hondata gasket has a hole for the coolant and looks exactly the same as the stock IM gasket. When I put mine on I used a bit of silicon around the coolant hole on both sides of the gasket just incase it leaked.

 

The gasket has it blocked off because it will increase horsepower. With no 190 degree coolant flowing into the intake manifold and heating it up, the resulting air temperatures flowing through the manifold will be cooler. The cooler the air, the more power you make.

It is common to run coolant through the throttle body to help heat it up in extreme cold. Depending on where you live, you may not need this.

 

Well how do I know if im getting the one with the hole? Bc it deffinatly gets cold here and i do want the coolent flowing through the IM.

the hondata gasket has the coolant hole. if you got one from another company, they have one's with and without it.

Looks like it comes without the hole and you cut it out if you want to.

 

C-speed has a write up on this. Maybe they had an older version, but you have the option of cutting out that hole.

 

Using my pyrometer the IM was 10* cooler than the head was on either side of the gasket. Just for the data...
