Tony Schumacher completed the biggest comeback in NHRA drag racing history and clinched the 2006 POWERade championship with a world record final-round run that has to be considered the greatest quarter-mile pass of all time. Entering the final needing to win the race with a pass quicker than 4.437 seconds, Schumacher and crew chief Alan Johnson delivered with a stunning 4.428 at 327.98 mph to defeat Melanie Troxel and earn him the championship by 14 points over a devastated Doug Kalitta.
In Funny Car, John Force used a giant holeshot to win his record 122 victory just two rounds after clinching his 14th title. Force beat "Fast Jack" Beckman, who ran a world record elapsed time of 4.662. Former Pro Stock champ Greg Anderson bettered new champ and teammate Jason Line by three hundredths of a second, while Craig Treble bagged his first Pro Stock Motorcycle win in more than two years on a day that featured Andrew Hines winning his third straight championship.

Yea i watched it earlyer, it was pretty crazy... i was jumping out of my chair when force won the championship (been a big force fan since i was a kid)...
I was rootin for Kalitta to get the championship in top fuel but gotta hand it to Schumacher's team, Alan Johnson is one of the best crew chiefs in the industry and was a main factor in that record breaking run...

awesome championship season this year. 3 out of 4 classes going to the last rounds of the season to sort out who wins the championship is crazy. i have been pulling for doug kalitta for 4 years and thought he had this one in the bag. cant wait for next season.
ya I was out of my seat rooting for Schumacher, but that had to suck for kalitta, he had it in the bag....then bam, Schmuacher gets a world record and his championship chances went poof.
Hats off to the champions in NHRA. Force was pretty emotionals to Ron Capps. Their good friends. How bout Pro Stock Line and Anderson .005 R/T hell yeah that's drag racing. Then on sat they both ran a 6.66. 07 will be a hell of a year.
