I'm using one right now on my GSR w/ sk2 mani and its used exactly like a gasket, just thicker. The reasoning behind them is to create a temperature barrier between the block and the IM to keep the IM cooler which in theory keeps air into combustion cooler. I havn't heard anthing about horsepower gains or losses but i believe its not much with n/a and possably some with f/i. I slapped one on from passwordJDM after my rebuild, looks pretty cool i guess. my IM does feel cooler than it did before but i have no dyno numbers to prove anything. I had to use some extended IM studs because of the thickness of the gasket, i have an extra set if you need and go this rought since i'm just about an hour north of you. hope this helps

edit: Sorry if it sounds jumbled, its been a long day

I'd go with the outlaw kit myself. Comes with everything you need and at a very decent price too.

I have hondata, heard alot of good things about the outlaw kit. If I did it again, I'd have the outlaw kit...
