I need some opinions Plz..
I pulled the rack and pinion out to do the inner tie rod ends, and the rack end bushing, now the rack seems to be ok, but the car does have 210,000 miles on it. I don't want to have to buy a new rack if I don't have to and considering the dealership told me I believe atleast 100 bucks, I know it's not much money, but I don't want to spend it right now, so should I just grease the thing up well, and put it back on? Also is there any trick to getting it back in? I was just going to make sure both lenghs are the same or close to the same when I bolt it back up to the steering column, any advice or ideas would be appricated thanks.
Well in my opinion , if you have it all apart and the part in question is only 100 bucks , it makes sence to me to go new with that . Thats kinda like going through the work to change you timing belt and skiping the new water pump because the old one still worked. Your already in there so i say due it.
As far as the rest goes , not sure on the R&P install but you always get a alignment after playing with your tie rods.
