The car doesn't start at the first try I turn the key; more like at the tenth.

Car makes that loud click I turn the key and the engine doesn't move, but will start at the 15th try turning the key.

Fuel pump making a "not normal" noise when turning the key into the second position.

I would like to know if it is the main relay acting up on me. It doesn't happen everyday but today I freaked out, the car would just would start, but after the 50th loud click it did. I think it depends of the weather or something. Waht's wrong?

 

the weather actually does affect it , when it gets hot inside the car it kills the relay, if you don't hear the pump come on it's 99% your main relay, not too sure about a weird noise though......39400-sh3-004

 

chances are its your relay, mine would act up just like that, Then it didn't do it for a long time so I forgot about it. Well one night at the street races the cops show up, when I went to start my car IT DID IT AGAIN!! finally I got it started and got the hell out of there, Next day I went to NAPA and bought one. I can get em for like $45 through NAPA

The main relay will NOT cause this symptom. A low battery, poor cables and connections, starter solenoid, or ignition cylinder will though. The main relay powers up the fuel pump and injectors, plus the ECU.
