1.) a quality test pipe is the T1R JDM length resonated test pipe
it can be purchased here: http://www.aj-racing.com/catal...age=4

this is a good choice because it eliminates that "raspy" sound a normal straight pipe would produce

2.) you may get a check engine light, it all depends. one thing you could do is raise the o2 sensor using piece that threads into the test pipe and also has a thread that the o2 sensor screws into. i forgot what it is called its cheap to make though and can be done at your local hardware store, someone will chime in soon

IMO most sound the same and brand shouldn't be the deciding factor, after all it is just a section of straight pipe w/ 2 flanges. I have a cheap comptech replica w/ flanges that fit multiple size collectors. Been laying around the garage for months.
30 shipped and its yours. Has 2 o2 bungs welded in w/ covers.

heres the cheap 02 simulator method. i didnt write this but its a really good step by step with pictures.

<FONT SIZE=""4"">

You now need to drill out 1 of the non foulers using a 1/2" drill bit. When finished this is what it will look like.

o2 Sensor inserted in the modified non fouler

Second, unmodified non fouler now installed on modified non fouler, then threaded into the downpipe
</FONT>

i used an electronic 02 sim from "zip tech" i bought it from http://www.importparts.com like 5 years ago. i cant seem to find it on their siite at the moment.

How 'bout buying a cat with the appropriate flanges?

Do you really think 1-2 hp at best is worth spewing vastly more pollution into the air?

+1 and a WTFBBQX2.

But if you're on track, and looking to silence the exhaust a bit then the T1-R is a nice piece

I'm running the T1R test pipe and its not raspy at all. However I will be putting my Vibrant high flow cat back on for next year when my car somes out of hiding since the difference in power isn't that noticable.

I don't if you'd consider the jdm 4-1 a "nice" header, but coupled with a test pipe, it's not raspy at all. At WOT, the engine still drowns out the exhaust.

Exactly..

Its not like your running FI where a Test pipe might net you a decent gain over a High Flow Cat, on the majority of NA setups (especially something as mild as your running) a test pipe only gives you 1-2whp at best over a good High Flow Cat like Carsound or IMCO

If you're running a stock header and stock exhaust then a straight pipe isn't worth the 1-2 hp IMO. A nice hi-flo will flow just fine and still function as a cat.

Omni power has what you need. 2.5 " collector, o2 bung, ajustable length and cocking for about 100 bucks. I have one on my type r swap and it bolts right up to the cat back.

I failed with a bad cat and passed with a good cat. Bad cat = no cat.

Which cars do our cars make less polutants than without the cat on our cars? I've never sat behind any stock, decent running cars and smelled exhaust fumes excluding diesel.
