AEM EMS vs motec M4
They look fairly similar in terms of features. Im not really seeing a clear advantage for either. im looking to get some feedback from those who have tuned with and used both. Which do you prefer? What are the reasons for your preference?

The M4 and the aem are really on different levels as far as electronics goes. The M4 has peak and hold inj. drivers built in, it will work with just about any trigger system with no modifications, and is much more realiable. That being said, both will more than likely get the job done just fine with the right person behind the controls. I run the M4 and would never even think about changing to an aem.

In my opinion the motec is easier to use as far as the interface goes, but for most people the aem will be easier to get the car up and running with because of it's plug n' play design.
This is alot like quik sol's question... Whose going to be tuning the car and what system are they familiar with? Are price and plug n' play important to u?

MoTec all the way! I have personally worked with all the MoTec Ecu's as well as dozens of AEM's and while I have had problems with AEMs in the past they have come a long way but are not in my opion near the MoTec yet. I feel the extra money is well spent in terms of reliabilty and overall function on the MoTec.

I agree. I found the Motec software to be a lot easier to navigate than the AEM.

that is not 100% completely true, in most cases yes. there are some systems that have many bugs that have to be worked out and some are just a lost cause. as far as the aem goes i gave up on it a couple years back when i was having trouble with damn near half the systems that came in the door, but in recent times i have found the system to be getting alot better.
but yes motec is the way to go

I have owned/ tuned both and think both are excellent systems, if money isnt a problem go with the motec just because you know it wont fail. i have had issues with aem box's in the past but not for awhile now.
