Default THEFT recovery - need motor/EFI help for B16A

YES I am a newbie - acctualy this question is for my brother who used to be on here alot...

here is the deal - his car got stolen and found..but after gotten hot wired I am wondering a quick way to take a gamble on the motor being ok-
he just swapped a B16A3 iton the car.

Here is what I am thinking and tell me if I am off base..

If motor doesnt have a hole in the oil pan and there is oil in the motor I assume it will be a good chance it is not blown because of the rev limiter??

is this a good bet?????
it is 1K to buy car back and it has adjustable koni's and bilsteins and the motor

(I think the theifs were planning to get the motor - but got caught first)

I need to make a desision wheather to buy it back for insurance or not..

what will this motor be worth to somone ???

tell me a honest price and if it is OK I willl sell it for a VERY good deal online - but what is a normal deal on it ?? motor has 28,000 miles on it - No internal mods - never NOS ed

I've never bought a car back before... so sorry if I'm mistaken... but they won't let you even start the car up, let alone drive it around the block to make sure all's good with the engine?

Barring that, use your best judgement. Hot wiring it probably isn't going to cause any physical damage to the engine... but it's possible they caused electrical damage to various sensors or other electrical components (possible, not absolute... as I'm no EE).

The only way I could think of that they could've damaged it is if they abused it while driving it to their chop shop or wherever they had planned to remove the motor, but that would defeat the purpose of engine removal anyway. It's probably fine as far as internals go.

I say go for it. Even if it turns out that the motor is damaged in some way (pretty unlikely, if you ask me), you could still probably make your money back parting it out.

if they were planning on taking the motor do you really think that they would **** up the car or engine??? what year car is it? what model?? for $1000 i would definatly buy it back if it still ran and if not get your **** off it and sell to someone that is willing to get the work done to make it run agian.. how much will the insurance company give you for the car even if they dont buy it back? and DONT tell them you had the motor in there or they might want to charge you more..

it is a 93 civic with a B16A3 motor and tranny in it and koni adjustable shocks (yellows) eibach springs. intake/exaust stuff - those alluminum/poly motor mounts (forgot all the names this is brothers car) camber kit. crossdrilled rotors.

used to have sweet wheels/kombi tires - about 2k stereo gauges and stuff..wiring inside and interior is pretty much ****..

anyways thanks for the input guys....anymore ?

what is a B16a worth..both blown and in good shape ?
