Default Take a look*

Heres the deal ,
My 2g Teg , is an auto , last week , changed oil and what not , so im lookin under the car and happened to notice that the tranny cooler line or what ever it is appears to be leaking.

So i put a quart of approved trans fluid in there and everything seemed fine . The next day i leave my house , everything was normal , then get maybe a 1/4 mile down the road and and make a right hand turn , then realize i left my ID at the house.

So i pull into a driveway to turn around. I put the car into reverse , and it makes a horrible grinding noise , so i put it back into drive to pull foward a bit more , away from the street.

So as i pull foward , it made more grinding noise , so im like WTF , and looked at my gauge cluster and noticed that my rpm's are climbing as i tap the throttle to pull up more.

So it's make more weird noises , i'm looking at the guages again and see that my speedo is climbing up , pretty quickly , so i freak out and throw it in Neutral , and turn it off.

I get out to look for a puddle of trans fluid but see nothing under the car , or in the street from where i just came from.

15 minutes later my step-dad pulls the car back home , so it sat all of this past week untouched . So im at home today bored outta my mind , so i figure what the hell, goto the store grab a quart of trans fluid.

Get back to the house put it in , let the car idle for 20 mins or so , checked under the car here and there looking for leaks but see nothing.

So i put the car into reverse and it goes into gear , so i witch back in forth between reverse and drive and everything is working fine.

So i back out for a test drive , i get about 20-30 feet and the speedo starts climbing again , so i stop and as i goto put it in park , the speedo was steady at about 20mph , and when i put it into park , it makes the griding sound again.

So basicly im not sure if the trans is completely shot , i did notice the "cable" that runs from my tranny to the inside of the car looked a bit outta place and a friend mentioned it's possible my tourque converter maybe came outta place , wich im not sure about.

So if you guys could suggest anything to check , or go by some kinda procedure i would really appreciate it , and if you have any answers i'll be here all nite lol the little guy is down for the count so thanks in advance!!

It sounds like your differential or an axle is blown. The differential has to be rotating to register a speed on the speedometer, but not power is making it to the ground.

I would pull the axles and check the splines for being ripped, actually you should only need to check one side, the drive side, the other one is just along for the ride, lift the car and see which side turns in gear, hold both sides with your hand and glove on the tire one side should want to pull harder, the drive side, pull that axle NOW. Subaru is famous for this stripped spline shaft issue, it leads to a new (rebuilt or replacement) tranny anyways.
