Default CRX running slow

I just picked up a bone stock 89 DX with 12 years of maintence records.... it has a new distributor and a new fuel line, my problem is it is lacking power... it barely can go freeway speeds and it has trouble revving to the redline, but there is no power past 3-4 anyway... maybe CRXs are just this slow?>... or does anyone have any ideas on what to look for to get it running properly?... at one point it threw a check engine light.. but the code was gone when I turned the car back on... which means I can't check it?..

That's your problem. The stock engine for the DX (D15B2) would proabably be better used as a paperweight. At a minimum, try giving it a tuneup and see if it makes any difference, or you could always switch to MPFI to give it a little more pep (search the FAQs at the top).

it also has a new air filter, and the upper intake is clean... should it be so slow... that it has trouble going 65 uphill?...

the last code you threw is stored in the ecu's memory until the battery is disconnected or hazard fuse is removed. lift up the carpet on the passenger side floor, turn the key to the #2 position and check the code. some codes are intermittent. reset the ecu and if it reappears then deal with it.

another note to add, I can only rev to 5500rpms... then the car revs down while I'm still flooring it

it can barely go 65 on the freeway.. and any slight uphill turns into a mountian... I replaced the O2 sensor cause the ecu had code 1 store in it, any other ideas.?... I know a 2000lb car with 90hp should be faster than what it is
