high idle after tune up
OK. My car had been idling rough before. So this week I was replacing my coolant and vac lines so I also decided to clean my FITV, IACV, and PCV valve. I cleaned everything reassembled, cleared my ecu and restarted. The car idled way too high, about 2500 after it reached opperating temp. So I readjusted the FITV so that it was screwed all the way in, and re-set the ecu again. That seemed to work a little better. The car still idled high at 1400 after warming up and adjusting the idle screw on the trottle body the as far as I could. I took it for a drive and when I came to a stop it started to idle at 2500 again, and continues to do so now. When I start it up it will idle steady at about 1400 until I give it any gas and then it will idle steady at 2500 until I turn off the engine. So now I have no idea what could be causing it to idle so high. Any suggestions?
Make sure u hooked up the coolant lines correctly and have enough coolant. Any cel's? Make sure u hooked up ur vacuum lines correctly too and don't have any leaks.
Ours is the 95 with 1.8. Just cleaned the FITV also. I noted though for ours the original position was 2-1/8 turns out from fully bottomed. Did you turn it clockwise first to count the turns so you knew where to set it after reassembly? If not this may help if you screwed in fully.
First off I forgot to metion I have a 95 gsr.

Yeah, every thing is hooked up correctly. I triple checked when I was finished before I started the car. I got all new hoses and clamps. And I flushed the coolant system after everything was done and there is def enough coolant. And there are no check engine lights. I drove for about 20 miles to see if it would adjust itself or throw a code but neither happened.

I just took note of the original position of the FITV screw before I took it apart and cleaned it. When I re-installed I put it at the original position but it idled at 2500. So I figured that was way to high so I just screwed it in as far as I could. That took it down to a 1400 idle but that is still to high.
